so it's been awhile. no semi trucks have encountered my car since eugene, and i still have my guitar... things are going pretty good. i'm still powering through that cold. it seems as though all the airborne and emergen-c did all it could to hold off this one.
bozeman and missoula are must stops for me if i'm even in the state. i just always have such a damn good time, and get to see so many people i love to see. two of my teachers from elementary school showed up at wild joes, plus a old choir dierctor, and several friends and family. even some strangers, too... the place was packed, and a captive and attentive vibe.
sean kelly's went down well, too. i was nervous about how the voice would hold up for the three hour set (sheesh), but excited to see who would be there. the review from the independent was pretty weird. so was the calendar comments, too... at least i know what to call my music now: "folk-wuss". it would be cooler if it was"folk-wuss with buttrock tendencies" but hey - i don't write to articles...
frank, the gentleman who runs the venue/music store/recording studio/cafe/coffee shop in troy, knows how to treat some folks on the road. he just knew what he was doing. the sound equipment was top notch, and he dialed in a great monitor sound. there's three things that you really appreciate when on the road: a good meal, a place to sleep, and a bit of cash to keep you moving. frank provided all three. plus - there's good cheap fun to be had on bar street. we thought it would be sinful to not experience a little troy saturday nightlife. drafts - $1 :)
the climate in wenatchee on saturday was the norhwest at its best. the apple trees are all in bloom, and it's sunny with a warm breeze. darrin from cafe mela had a beautiful looking venue - complete with some good gear. he recorded it live, as well. another guy who knew what he was doing... the guitar sounded great that night. adam's folks came down, and brought some friends, too. that night i got to sleep underneath serveral pictures of adam in various stages of childhood... i think we're going to get the band over there for a show this summer.
a pit stop has been made here in tacoma for a few days. tomorrow we embark on the last leg of the tour. i'm bringing the band up to bellingham and seattle. i sure have a blast playing with those fellas.
be prepared for some rocking.
