The AFI Award nominations got announced. The Black Balloon got 11 nominations!!! ongratulations to all nominees and everybody who worked on the film!

Here are the nominees:

Best Film - Tristram Miall (Producer)
Best Direction- Elissa Down
Best Original Screen Play - Elissa Down & Jimmy The Exploder
Best Cinematography - Denson Baker
Best Editing - Veronika Jenet
Best Sound - Ben Osmo & Paul Pirola
Best Original Score - Michael Yezerski
Best Lead Actor - Rhys Wakefield
Best Supporting Actor - Luke Ford
Best Supporting Actor - Erik Thomson
Best Supporting Actress - Toni Collette

With 11 nominations The Black Balloon has the most nominations at the 2008 AFI awards.
The Awards will be handed out Dec 5 & 6 in Melbourne. With the Ceremony Dec 6 being broadcasted on the Nine Network at 9.30pm.
