Sweet story.  It actually kind of reminds me of some things that are going on in my life right now.  Still love your descriptive writing style.  I felt like I was there with them on the park bench.

That is very much encouraged.  If you think someone would enjoy any of the stories, feel free to send them on over.

Oh my gosh... that's phenomenal... simply amazing... I love it!!  BTW, have you thought about turning any of your stuff into work(s) for the stage?  Like 10-minute plays or One Acts?  Just a thought... particularly this one...

Steven,

I really enjoyed this. Have you ever considered becoming a play write for a one act? a lot of your stuff would work for that. For instance I am just judged the New Voice Play Festival at the OOH. This is were ppl who haven't had a certain play published submit it to us, we jusge them and the best 2 are performed. We give cash prizes to 1-3 places and we give out honor mentions as well to 5 ppl. We do this in March every year. You might want to consider it. Check out the website  for more info www.oldoperahouse.org

Hmmm... I suppose I'll have to look into this play writing thing.

Do you do One Acts as well?

If you do, my mom has a local playwrights group in Florida that she directs and is on the board. I'm sure she would love to produce one...or two. =)

I so need to preread my shit before I send it. I feel like a dummy. Any who. I don't write them. I have dabbled, but I don't write them. I do enjoy reading them and performing them. It is a very intense habit I have. :)

Oh no, no, I understand, I just meant does the production company perform one acts as well.   Writing a whole play from scratch would probably take me awhile =p

Kinda slow.....imo.  I don't really get a feel for the characters from their limited dialogue.  The descriptiveness of their surroundings is extremely well done, but doesn't move the story along into a good read.  No offense.

Fair enough - I'm glad you looked at it critically.

From my point of view, I think too much dialogue would have subtracted a lot from the story.

How can such a young man tap into the regrets of the old so well? I actually cried. It made me remember every old boyfriend I have ever had, as well as every unresolved issue with men and friends and family. It was very touching and sweet.

it's somewhat of an arduous adventure to convey unconventional critique, especially when critiques come flying from a myspace writer's group of more than four-thousand members.  Hence, should I say that certain aspects of imagery, or efficacious sentimentality, to say nothing of syntax, were truly appealing to me, I fear that you may have heard the same praise over and over again, before.  Nonetheless, I thought this short story was quite good.

The part about the rotting apples was the best. I liked how the rotted sides were down, and everyone could only see the good parts. I won't remember most of the story but the apples stuck.

I agree w/ the earlier gentleman...it didn't really go anywhere.  Commercially, that'll make it unmarketable.  But the imagery was heartbreaking.  I loved it.  Thanks for sharing--I'll enjoying reading more.

Interesting take.  Keep in mind, though, that the intent is not to have a piece to market - if I wanted to sell it, I'd charge for the blog   The point was to give you something for free to enjoy, and I'm very glad you did.  Thank you for reading!

Very powerfull imagery,  I felt a little lost at the begining - as far as the story line and dialog, but quickly got the whole picture about half way through.  Its a beautiful peace -  a real tear jerker.

Absolutely fantastic!

It was equal parts sad and happy, not an easy mix of emotions to envoke in anyone. I loved the story.

I thought it was very well written and the imagery was amazing.  I did however feel that it was lacking some direction.  It almost feels like it was just a piece of a larger story.  I enjoyed it though.

I have to say thought this story had lots of depth to it. I found myself thinking about how two people can have a relationship go their seperate ways, coming together again new people. They were both very old and had some history together but, they had missed so much time in between that it was almost like getting to know each other for the first time.
