Pianist Oksana & Silvia Vicinelli Collaborate on Pop-Classical "Aurora" 7/8/2008
LOS ANGELES ( July 8, 2008) – Oksana Kolesnikova, internationally acclaimed Russian born Pianist and composer, and Silvia Vicinelli, world renowned Italian vocalist, announced today their recent collaboration has resulted in a groundbreaking new song entitled "Aurora." Music by Oksana and Vicinelli, with words by Vicinelli and Patti Orbeck, "Aurora" will soon be available as digital download and as a single. Oksana and Vicinelli both expect fans worldwide will enjoy the genre-bending ballad, which amalgamates classical acoustic piano with a modern pop and rock to create a haunting fantasy.
"It has been an electrifying experience to collaborate with Vicinelli, a multi-talented artist who commands an extraordinary and unique voice," says Oksana. "Our shared desire to make a connection with our audience and touch their hearts really prevails throughout 'Aurora."
"Aurora" gently folds Oksana's precision classical piano into Vicinelli's rock and pop influences to create a track that is difficult to categorize. Originally recorded as "Aurora: Fantasy in e minor" for her 2002 album Free Floating, Oksana's piano lays the ground work for this remained ballad arranged by Martin Morgenstern - Vicinelli's long time partner. Vicinelli's powerful yet haunting vocals tell the story of a young girl with an extraordinary destiny.
"Like the song's original title, it is a fantasy to work with a talent like Oksana," says Vicinelli. "She has a remarkable ability to create a calm and serene world with her music and I had a lot of fun living in there."
Throughout her entire life Oksana has demonstrated a passion for music as well as the planet. Classical piano became an interest to Oksana at the young age of five in her native Siberia, Russia. She has now brought her talents to the states, set up shop in Los Angeles, and received irrefutable acclaim. Oksana has found unique success crossing classical music with mainstream entertainment which has garnered her a fan base that extends across the globe. Her worldwide recognition has landed her spots on the news and television such as CBS 2 News in Los Angeles, PBS National, HSN, and children's favorite The Shana Banana Show. More information on Oksana and her seventh CD, "The Best of Two Worlds," a passionate collection of original works inspired by the art of Grammy award-winning Jim Warren, is currently available at www.pianowoman.com.
Born and raised in Italy, Vicinelli fronted several pop-rock bands and appeared internationally in many European musical theatre productions such as Jekyll & Hyde, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Beauty & the Beast in leading roles. Beside her engagements in Theatre, Silvia was always seeking for more, and in an effort to find a newer, more personal form of artistic expression, she has written her own songs for her Solo Project, in collaboration with outstanding pianist, arranger and composer Martin Morgenstern. Although her compositions range from intimate ballads to powerful Rock songs, influences from the Soul, Gothic and Classical genres give her songs an eclectic flair. With a message of inner strength, and believing in one's self, her music not only entertains but hopes to reach the heart of the audience. Vicinelli's unique music, astonishing voice (three and a half octave range) and live performances have always succeeded in creating a connection to her audience - no matter what age.
