                                                   Invasion!!!

By Margie--A Cheryl's Pals Collab

From out of the void they encircled the world
Fierce space invaders making my toes curl
We're coming for you, you'll be dead by noon
Hearing angel's sing, you'll bite the big one soon

Our radio waves left a trail to the Earth
And filled the invaders with contemptous mirth
We sent inviting signals throughout the galaxy
Hoping for signs of life from the powers that be

They were out in the darkness searching far and wide
For our buttery moon that kisses the sky

This disaster we didn't anticipate
Our own destruction we did create
As tears from heaven rain down on us
They'll annilate our world, no mess, no fuss

Risistance is futile, if only we could flee
They're going to obliterate you and me

We should have traveled the moon and stars
Mysteries untold, magnificent wonders to behold
Diamond stars, heaven's delight
Sparkling gems in the dark of night

We should have made a journey that was interplanetary
Made the universe our sanctuary
We should have conquered every planet, owned all the stars
Perpetuated everything that we are
Planted our seed on planets afar

A fiery inferno raging all night
As the first pale light of morning crept up
No sign of life, not even a trace
The human race has drunk from a bitter cup

The death of all hopes and dreams
Never again wake to the scent of lavender in the air
Or listen to early morning sounds
Cold, unfeeling fate doesn't even care

There'll be no memories of humans, lost and gone
Not even a foot-note to mark humanity's home
We didn't even get to move on

No one to mourn the way that we were
Or hope life on our planet again will stir
A silent Earth, the worst good-bye
As the stars sail silently by

Thanks, Barbara! This was a last minute effort, sort of rushed.
