Sorry this impulse write only contains Cheryl's line and mine. I'll do better next time. This is a tale of double standards that existed for many before the 60's sexual revolution. Sort of tongue-in-cheek, but it was real and painful for many wives.

A Country Girl's Rebellion
A Cheryl's Pals Collab by Margie
Lipsticked clothes, perfume not hers
Late nights out, cold kisses
Can't ignore what must be true
Can't live on wistful wishes
A haunting melody plays in her mind
The sound of his last good-bye
She's so lonesome she could cry
She's missing him desperately
Pleading, come back to me
We can work it out, you'll see
Holding his heart, not letting it go
Loving and wanting him so
Wishes and sighs won't undo lies
But steadfast hearts will always try
Her Mama said, "You made your bed
Now lie on it as best you can.
Raise your children, do your duty
Try to love that cheatin' man
A man has needs we don't know about
Accept it or be unhappy and pout."
God said, "Let no man put asunder"
What would equality be like? Don't even wonder
The ties that bind are sacred things
To sever them damnation brings
"Till death do us part" came from her heart
Devotion her middle name
But vows have turned to ashes
Nothing will ever be the same
She's bourne his children and washed his socks
Loved him well and truly
Cooked endless meals for him to eat and run
Bathed his face when he was drunk and drooly
Praised him to the skies for each paycheck
He spent them all, but what the heck
Boys will be boys
Wives will be toys
And dreams just don't die easy
She may be down, but don't count her out
Renewal of spirit is what life is about
Bloodied and bowed, but she perks up a bit
"Girl, where's your pride? Now, stop that s***!!"
He doesn't deserve your tears, not even a little bit
Sending out her heart to be cleaned and re-sized
(Should have sent my mouth to be sanitized!)
New starch in her spine, get out of her way
Surviving to love another day
Don't let the SOB see her cry
Don't let her self-esteem shrivel up and die
Don't let her waste her time asking why
The answer is clear, he's a rotten guy
Her:
Like eternal stained glass imprints
Hope lives again in a heart that's bent
"You go your way and I'll find mine
With a new love that's true, constant and kind
And you can stick it where the sun don't shine!!"
Him:
"Aww, Sweetie Pie, you don't mean that
You're as touchy as a stepped-on cat
She didn't mean a thing, just another week-end fling
So dry your pretty eyes and take back my ring"
Her:
"&%^*()#$%^^&!!!!%%%##!!!"
Sound of a slamming door;
Suzy Homemaker doesn't live here anymore
Remaking her bed with clean, new sheets
Who knows what kind of new future she'll greet?
He's bewildered, doesn't understand
A red-blooded man has rights
A decent woman looks the other way
She doesn't stand up and fight!
A fool-hearted man with his wandering ways
Is spending a lot of time alone these days
Milking the cow and doing her chores
Waiting for her to walk back through the door
Saying, "I'm sorry, please take me back.
I can't make it on my own."
Waiting in vain for the wife who made it a home.
