Like waiting for a bus, you wait for ages, and nothing... then two come along at once.  No sooner have you got your hands on the 7" vinyl with ’Nothing Works Twice’ and ’Goodbye Sunlight’ on it, and we’re about to hit you with another track for purchase.  This time it’s on CD, so no excuses from those of you without a turntable.  It’s a mere £2.99 (with free delivery from HMV) which is pretty fair just for a new Projekt A-ko track - but you get another three tracks from another three great acts thrown in for free! ;-)  What a deal!

So...  Projekt A-ko - Here Comes New Challenger!

HMV - CLICK HERE TO ORDER

It looks like this:

Surely that artwork alone is worth £2.99!  It barely covers the cost of the felt tip pens.

Track listing:

Tripwires - Kings & Queens

Projekt A-ko - Here Comes New Challenger!

To The Barricades - Say Who You Are

Ben Marwood - Question Marks?  (Mr Fogg remix)

Reviews so far...

"Projeckt A-Ko who sound rather like the band from which it formed, Uresei Yatsura. It’s a poppy Pavement, all slanted and dislocated."
http://www.russellsreviews.co.uk/cdreviews/singles170208.htm

"Project A-KO bring to the EP ’Here Comes New Challenger’ an addictive number that brings back memories of Sonic Youth, some excellent rocky guitar riffs and drum beats. They are due to release an album later on this year and from the strength of this track it should be well worth waiting for!"

"Projekt A-KO: somewhere between Pavement & the band they were formed from the ashes of; Urusei Yatsura, impressive!"

"Projekt A-ko also starts a bit quietly but soon they kick into the distorto-sound that we know and expect from any former Urusei Yatsura comprised band."

"next up is the rather more interesting projeckt a-ko, formed by 3 former members of urusei yatsura (creators of one of my favourite albums ever - slain by),with ’here comes new challenger!’ this time around they sound more like pavement, with a hint of sonic youth feedback near the end."

Official release date is Monday 24th March 2008 so there shouldn’t be too long a delay between pre-order and delivery.

Your support is much appreciated.

Thank you!

PS - If you haven’t bought the 7" vinyl yet... why not?  It’s lovely - purchase link on our page. USB turntables only cost about £100 these days and you can convince your parents/grandparents to fork out for one so that they can rip all their Kajagoogoo tracks to MP3.  ;-)

Review from 'Blah Blah' Magazine (Reading, Berkshire) March 2008 Edition...

Projekt A-ko - Here Comes New Challenger

This band come from the ashes of Cult 90s Scottish lo-fi band Urusei Yatsura and have been described as a more solid version of their former band. Projekt A-ko offer more than tilted standard post-punk guitar rock here and there until the result comes out like the musical equivalent of Picasso's ultra-angular cubist paintings.

Projekt A-ko have their sounds and textures down cold already, but there's a lot of the compressed songfulness (and angular hookcraft) that we've come to expect from Yatsura. For the most part, Projekt A-ko could get by on atmosphere alone. The whole track just sounds so good. The great thing about this song is that they keep the pop melodies and warped, messy music and weird stylings and bring on the noise for their loudest, most abrasive track yet.

Plastic Ashtray review

"Projekt A-KO can’t really do much wrong round these parts. Besides the site being named after a song from their previous band, their (long awaited) rise is slowly coming into play. After hearing a few assorted treats, finally songs are creeping forward. ‘Here Comes New Challenger!’ is bloody excellent. The fuzzy guitars and twitching rhythms only pave the way for a great chorus which sounds in my ears like Interpol. It’s certainly a different approach which works so well. I’m in love with this band and in fact this song."
