'Tis the season for PURSE SNATCHING!
Yes, I had my purse stolen from me in the grocery store late Tuesday afternoon. It was lifted right out of the top part of the cart where most of us women place our purses. Thankfully, I had my keys in my pocket and not in my purse. Take note of that, ladies...always keep your keys in your pocket, separate from your purse! Although it is not a nice thing to have your purse stolen...this scripture popped into my head during the 'well, maybe it is somewhere in the store' phase. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."-Romans 8:28 So, instead of focusing on the loss of my items and the groceries that I now couldn't purchase, I started to focus on the good that could possibly come out of this. It went something like this: .....Well......hmmmmmm.......ummmmmm......hmmmmmmm........let's see.......lol. Okay......well, they had security cameras in the store, so the person may get caught....but that doesn't really help with the return of any of my items.....okay.....hmmmmmmmm.....well.....I got to talk to a police officer....that's always a good thing.....to have them on your side....and, well....I have this item that I can share with you that may help prevent any of you from getting your purse or other personal items stolen:
This is a personal alarm that attaches to your purse. The long string is attached to you, or the cart where your purse is sitting by using the clamp. When your purse is lifted and the perpetrator tries to take off with it, the clip inside the alarm releases: And sounds off a loud, ear-piercing alarm that is attached to the purse. The perpetrator will more than likely drop the purse and run, not stop and try to find and dismantle the alarm. The alarm part can hang outside on your purse like this:
Or you can conceal the alarm part of the device by attaching it to the inside of your purse and just have the string extending out from it. I, unfortunately, did not have my alarm in this purse, but I will be sure to keep it in my future purses.
This alarm that I have is quite old and was made by First Alert. I am not sure if they still make this item as I searched for it on the web. I did, however, find other sites that offer the same type of device. Here are the links:

Hopefully this information can help prevent some future purse snatchings. Wishing you all a safe and happy weekend and a great Thanksgiving to all the fellow Canadians out there :)
Love, Nancy
