Brethren was a band that was put together by a bunch of friends. You couldn't possibly create a band that would get along this great most of the time. Everyone that we met, including former members that came and went will be the witnesses to that. We had a lot of fun together playing the music we wanted. That was what this band was all about. Here are some personal brief comments of my friends that played in this band...

JOSE 'JG' GONZALEZ (Second Guitar): JG was one of the original members. He has a passion for heavy hardcore music. A hardcore guy. Good song writer. I liked the stuff he did with Mindframe. He wrote alot of the catchy guitar parts you hear on our recordings. He also had alot of input on what was going to be used for the songs. I would call JG first for anything about the band. Even though he can do some really awesome guitar solos, we agreed not to do any for the band because only Metal bands do that, and solos are a waste of time. Great guy, and funny as hell.

JULIAN DEL BUENO (Bass): another original member. Julian was the quiet one in the band. Whenever there was some kind of argument, he was the go-to guy. He would have simple solutions right away. I liked when he would drop his bass guitar onstage while playing, and jump off into the crowd. Had the most impressive one-finger fretboard playing style of any bass player I've ever seen. Agreed with most of the songs I came up with. A great friend as well.

JAVIER OTERO (Singer): Javier was another original member of the group. He was the one that put everything together when things needed to be done. Had a lot of input on what was used and not used for the songs. To me, he was the perfect and only Brethren singer. I liked his style alot. Always a fun guy to be around with, and always joking around. He played an important role in the band's existence. He was the one that booked most of our shows, tours, and was the guy that made friends with all the bands we played. I don't think he ever realized how vital he was being the frontman for Brethren. Very important, I'd say. I appreciate all the things he did for our band.

JAVIER DUEñAS (Drummer): got us out of drummer problems. A professional musician. Jav opened creative doors for us as a band, and helped define the true Brethren sound. He was exactly what we were looking for in hardcore drummers. We were complete as a group with his addition. Was the one that learned all the songs first hand before it was presented to others. He learned songs very quick. Not to take away anything from the others, but Jav turned out to be the most dedicated of the bunch. Him and I were the only punk rockers of the group, but we were still out numbered. Much respect to him.

GEORGE RIOS (Drummer): George was the one with the big idea of creating a new band after Mindframe broke up. He helped Javier, Julian, Jose and I get motivated to rehearse, and then we formed this little group that turned out to be Brethren. He gets most of the credit for shaping up the early Brethren sound. We always had alot of fun when George was in the band, but he eventually moved on to other projects. I'm really happy that he succeded. He left the band in good terms, and I will always be thankful for what he did for the band, and as a long time friend.

JASON LEDERMAN (Drummer): Jason is the funniest guy I've ever heard on the face of the planet. A walking riot 24-7. He was a little crazy, but we loved having Jason in our band. It was an honor to play with him. Great guy. At the time he briefly joined our band, we were trying to get back on our feet and trying to re-invent ourselves after going through so many unstable drummers. Jason made us head into a different direction musically. A more of a hardcore approach was adopted with faster songs, but he only lasted less than a month, so we couldn't really develop any kind of song writing with him because he had other interests as well and left. Had a clear vision of what he wanted--like great musicians do.
