Well, as many of the faithful Jurors may know, we were supposed to be releasing our debut EP with this band line-up, entitled Where The Horse Bit Me sometime within the last month or so.
Well, we didn't.
We recorded six tracks at Sturgeon Studios with Adam Michalczuk in the summer of 2006 and had planned on adding them to a series of live cuts, recorded live during the summer of 2007. This plan is now being shelved.
The reason is simple. When we decided to head in to the studio, we had Andrew Levasseur on drums. The day we went in, The Hung Jury and Andrew mutually agreed to part ways. No hard feelings, things just don't always work out the way you hope. We hired Luke Pelotte to drum on the CD. Shortly after completing the tracks, we brought Luke on board full time.
Over the course of the last year, our sound has changed. Matured if you will. Our country sound is still buried in our roots, but we've become more aggressive, a little heavier, and a whole lot ballsier. Luke's drumming has been a major influence on our sound, helping coax Erik into a better, more mature bassist and pushing Kelly and I to be better musicians and better showmen. And we feel that we have.
With all of that being said, here's the ultimate plan now.
We are going to release two EP's over the next few months. One is going to be an archival release, sort of a collection of studio recordings and demos of songs that we still play now (mostly), but that people can see (or rather, hear) the progression these songs have made to their current incarnation. The other EP will be a live EP, with live cuts tracked over the past year. This will give an indicator of our direction and what our live "thang" is all about.
In the early new year, the four of us are going to start recording a full length, with the sound and vibe that is The Hung Jury now, not what it was years ago.
We thank you for being so patient and we can't wait to hit the studio and start work on what we hope will be a worthy Hung Jury debut!
Cheers and see you at the show!
