Myspace hasn't returned the old page to me yet. I emailed to follow up, no response yet.

I'm still not sure what I should do with it. I think I'll post these blogs there, and ask the community to help decide a positive way to make use of the page.

Now I must decide if I should go into work and try not to think about this, or attempt to take a vacation day and defend myself on the iNtErnEtz all day. Not much sleep last night, and didn't eat dinner, so I should probably stay home and relax.

Thank you all for your emails and comments. Your support is helping me get through this, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Update: 12.17pm The profile still hasn't been "returned" to me. Still waiting on this. . . Better news, it appears that almost everyone, and especially the Myspace community and others involved in the netroots movement, are all reaching out to me to show their support. This is awesome. I'm more confident than ever that I did the right thing in taking a stand on this. Thank you.

What a mess. Obama can SAVE our country. Please do what ever you can to stop this myspace distraction from our country's huge problems. I am sorry things have soured for you. Please consider our really big problems that need to be solved in the world. You have talents and a big heart, redirect them. You can use your powers for good! Please consider my words. Love, Pink One.

At this point I think that there are a lot of people waiting to see what obama himself does in reaction to the internet upheaval before deciding if perhaps this distraction was warranted and/or simply another chance for obama to publicly show that he's made of different stuff. As odd as it sounds in a storm of self-inflated internet ramblings, action counts for more than propaganda.

One thing is for certain though, if he can conquer countries like he can take a webpage from a blogger then UBL is in for some serious pwnage!

I want a positive outcome. I'm working on it. I don't know why they're choosing to discredit me rather than work towards a positive outcome. Everyone else is reaching out and supporting me.

Hang in there Joe. If you can still support Obama, I'd say take back the page and continue to grow the friends network. But if the behavior of some of his staffers has you so put off that you can't support the man, then it becomes a tough issue. Don't forget, good help can be hard to find, don't blame Obama for the behavior of a couple of people that are currently working for him... who knows where they will be in a few months. I'm not sure who is running the 'official' page, but it looks terrible, the layout and fonts are a mess... it looks like it is being run by people that have no clue about web design.

What a mess. A lot of people don't realize that a location like myspace doesn't have "freedom of the press" rules, but what's been done here is pretty much a botch job.

I can't believe Myspace unilaterally just changed control of your space to someone else. I'm sure its within the TOS, but still, did they ever talk to you about it, or did they just do it?

and the Obama campaign.... The $49K may have been considered a bit much (I've worked on campaigns, several times, and $49K for the work you've done isn't unreasonable), but to go from $49K to $0 is absurd. They had to know the backlash.

I HAVE AN AOL SITE USING BARACKS NAME. PEOPLE DON'T COME TO IT BECAUSE OF MY FAME.. IF I CREATED A JOURNAL AND A GROUP ON AOL UNDER THE SAME BARACKOBAMA NAME I COULD GET 1000'S TO JOIN.. I THINK YOUR MAKING A BIG MISTAKE IN USING ANOTHERS NAME AND TREATING IT AS YOUR OWN.. I THINK YOU BETTER TRY TO THINK DEEPLY ABOUT THIS BECAUSE THIS WILL AFFECT THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.. PEOPLE WILL NEVER TRUST YOU AND NEVER WANT TO HIRE YOU ALWAYS THINKING YOU WILL TRY TO GET MONEY FROM THEM.. JOE TIME TO GROW UP AND GET REAL.. THIS COULD AFFECT THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.. BARACK MAY GET ELECTED OR NOT BUT YOU HAVE A LIFE TO LIVE AND YOUR SELF WORTH IS WORTH EVERYTHING IN THE REAL WORLD.

I am so sorry man this happened to you! I'm like, someone is missin' on my Top Friends list. Guess who it was - Mr. Obama (sorry if I spelled dude's name wrong) was gone! I've read most of the articles regarding "the breakup". It's too bad when someone or something gets big, they start messin' w/it and KABOOM! Let the boy have the space back I say, you were doin' a good job. Once the "professionals" get their grubby paws all up in it, they mess it up for us down-to-earth people. Don't forget, it was for US/the People! Take care kid, you were doin' the right thing. Don't listen to HATERS (as my grandbabies say) and keep on keepin' on; we need more folks like you givin' us the good stuff. May the Force be w/you!{=

As someone that has voted for Obama twice, I find this to be ridiculous. I am constantly defending his record an his experience. but this i will not defend. whether it was him or his people - it doe not matter. in the eyes of the media this will be tied to Obama and i will not defend this action. This makes him look like a republican trying to control what everyone says about him. I am disheartened and saddened that his campaign would act in this way. I say keep up the good fight.
