If you have been doing the same old workout every time you go to the gym for the last six months or more chances are you are not seeing much growth and most of your efforts and time spent in the gym are bieng wasted. You see the body quiclly adapts to any new workout routines and builds muscle during the adaption phase. Then after it adapts it will plateau and stop buidling muscle becuase it is so effecient at the new routine.
