Mandy - 1 year old female purebred Miniature Schnauzer. Mandy was rescued from a high kill shelter where she had been turned in "as a stray" with a broken leg. The people that turned her in put down their name for first rights to adoption. The shelter contacted them to let them know how expensive it would be to fix her broken leg, the people admitted she was their dog.. they took her to the shelter thinking the shelter would fix her up and they could then adopter her (that's not how it work folks!). We subsquently rescued Mandy as she was scheduled for euthanization. We took Mandy to the vet the day after we got her, he said the injury was a few months old... it will require a special plate to fix her leg. She is scheduled for surgery later this week (waiting for the plate to come in). Mandy's owners were not only negligent about treating her leg, she is very very skinny and was a matted stinky mess... its just too bad that animal control did not cite them for animal cruelty. We've cleaned Mandy up and found a little doll underneath the filth. Mandy is a sweet girl that appears to do great with other dogs. She's approximately 12 pounds but very much under weight. Mandy will not be available probably for about a month as she will be having surgery this week and will take time to heal.
