In downtown
Los Angeles, I find myself walking for coffee. Fancy that, "Walking in
LA". (Does anyone remember that Missing Persons song? I sang the
background parts with Dale Bozzio on a short tour of hers while I was a Berklee
student, so I know that song quite well...) "Nobody walks in
LA!" or so it goes, but here I am enjoying my strolls. I'm here for a few
days for various gigs...Pershing Square for a free outdoor concert...The Coach
House in San Juan Capistrano...and tonight I'll be joining Broadway's Eden
Espinosa's show at the Ford Theatre. Her concert is entitled "Me".
Yes, she named her whole concert after my song, and she sings it and shares
with the audience how that song has influenced her. It's an incredible feeling
in one's heart to hear of one's songs making their way into the world and into
people's hearts and minds...I'm at times incredulous, and just so grateful to
still be here making music. Very generously, Eden is introducing me as a
special guest of sorts tonight, and I'll sing a couple of my songs... Songs,
songs, songs. My legacy that I'll leave. Along with my darling daughter, they
will be a lasting bit of me, God willing. I feel a responsibility to the art of
divining these songs. It's a tricky matter. One must be pure of heart, looking
for truth. And in that greatness might flow through a sacred cod or
perhaps just a decomposing sneaker at the bottom of the psyche. I'm fishing in
the mysterious sea of the unconscious; of the Infinite. Hoping and working my
way to songs. I'm building them for the next album and plan to be recording in
the winter. I am aiming for my album to be out next year. SO, wish me some
sparkling fairy dust so that my antennae may attune to the highest frequencies!
And I will connect with you on the road, or on the internet. And I will play
some of these new songs live, too.......
Until
next time, I wish you everything good. Be kind to yourself.....
