alot happened to me and here is a copy of my sister in laws blog and my best friend Brooke's blogs to explain it better :
Frome Jessica's Blog:
Please pray and keep praying for Christina, my sister-in-law. Last night, Doctors found a hole in her stomach. They did immediate surgery to repair the hole. She is now stable and in ICU at the Marshall, Texas hospital. We are praying for a speeding recovery, that infection will not take over her body and that she will be able to eat once things are better.
She may need more surgeries, but that will only be known in the future. Right now, we need everyone to pray. She has two beautiful daughters and a wonderful husband that needs our support.
Evening of August 31st, 2008
After talking to Mrs. Joan, Chrissy's Mom, the nurses were able to bring her out of the induced coma for a short period of time. She was able to slowly respond to questions and indicated that she was in pain. Her kidney's are having a hard time working, but seem to be getting back in the groove of things. The output is below average, but they are willing to work with that for now. Her blood tests keep indicating that her white blood cell count is lowering, which means the infection, hopefully, is going away.
We are more than likely looking at another surgery in the near future. The hole that the food has to pass through to get into the stomach is about the size of the end of a straw. We are hoping that this hole does not grow together and hopefully will stretch in the coming days or near future.
We are looking forward to tomorrow, were hopefully, she will be able to be removed from the ventilator. We are looking towards a long road ahead of us with the recovery over the next several months.

As Hurricane Gustav hits us, even though we are bracing for the worst, a prayer has somewhat been answered! Christina is off the ventilator and her kidneys are back to normal! The Doctors are going to run a dye tomorrow with a CT Scan to make sure the esphogial tract and the stomach are still connected and able to pass the dye too the stomach.
The Doctors got her out of the bed today and sat her in a chair. She is still not completely out of the woods yet. We are still concerned with her developing another infection or possibly pnemonia. She has apparently been able to have some type of conversation to understand somewhat is going on.
For her pain, they have her on a morphine drip, so her pain is hopefully becoming tolerable.
We still need to keep praying even though it may appear she is on the mend.
Morning of September 2nd, 2008
Overnight, she developed a fever, which is not good. They have started given her Tylenol to control the fever. We are still no where near out of the woods. KEEP PRAYING!!!

Well, two steps forward and one step backwards seems to be the theme of the day. Christina had a fever last night, but it was quickly found out why. She has fluid in one lung, which they are going to draw it out today. The Doctor ran a dye today to determine if there were any leaks, and as of today, none are visible to a CT Scan using the dye.
There are conflicting stories on whether or not she is going to be able to swallow liquids or solids in the future. Our goal is to get her on the mend so that if she does indeed require another surgery, she will be stronger and more prepared for the next round.
We just all need to keep praying and please put her on your prayer lists at church and at home!

Jason and I went to see Christina last night. She was sitting upright in the bed with pillows all behind her. She was able to carry on a conversation with us and was even trying to crack some jokes, but you have to remember she is on a morphine drip. She probably will not remember any conversations she has with you right now, which is a good thing. She kept telling us that a frog was sitting on her mom's shoulder and that there were orange circles on the wall. She was talking about how her Dad was a drill sergerent yesterday because he made her keep moving, yes moving! The nurses insisted on getting her out of bed yesterday and made her walk around the ICU halls. She did really good and there are staying on her about moving around.
While we were there, a nurse did a check-up on her. She did have a temperature, but it was 99.9, so it seems to be getting lower. She has I don't know how many different IV bags hanging, but I bet you she is getting a little bit of everything. Her favorite button is her morphine right now.
Yesterday, they did do the scan with the dye and did not see anymore holes are leaks in her stomach area. They did discover that she has pnemonia in her left lung, in which they had to remove the fluid off of it to help her breath better. She is trying to cough up the mess out of her lungs, but it's more like a clearing of her throat right now. You have to remember that she still does have a tube down her nose that goes to her stomach and she did have a ventilator tube down her.
She is going to be very sore for awhile. Right now, we still need lots of prayers because THEY ARE WORKING! SHE IS IN GREAT SPIRITS AND IS ON THE MEND, BUT WE STILL HAVE A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF US!

SO SHE IS MAKING PROGRESS!!!! Mr. Sonny informed me over lunch that they had removed the tube from her nose, which had to be so uncomfortable. She is up walking, with assistance of course, and moving around trying to break up the pnemonia. She still has a fever, but it seems to be a low grade.
So later on today, Mr. Sonny went on to inform me that they are given small sips of water and it seems to be GOING TO THE STOMACH! YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!! They stated that if she continues to show progress and get better that she may be looking at coming home Friday or Monday. So, KEEP PRAYING IT'S WORKING!!!!

Sorry for not updating yesterday, but I was extemely overwelmed with everything going on. As of today, Christina got moved to a private room and out of ICU. She has been given water, apple juice and a little bit of jello. She can only eat about 3 bites of Jello and she is full, but thankfully it is making it to her stomach. She still is battling the pnemonia. Fluid was on her lung yesterday, but they had not given her Dad the results of the morning X-Ray when I talked to him earlier today. She is able to talk and is doing it very well. She is almost back to CHRISSY MODE! She still has a lot of recovering to do, so we still need prayers.
From Brooke's Blog:
HEY EVERYONE...So I have gotten alot of emails, messages & texts asking what happened with Chrissy and how she is doing...So Im gonna try my best to write a short version of it.....
Last week-she was having a burning sensation in her stomache and she was also nauceaus. . She ended up going to the ER here in carthage one night-then went back home...She went back in another night and they didnt see much wrong with her but went ahead and admitted her... Her pain intensified, and she began running like a 102 fever, blood pressure was shooting up-and she typicaly has low blood pressure. Well on saturday, she began throwing up blood. A good bit of it at that... going through what we did with my dad and the whole throwin up blood bit-that scared the mess outta me. Carthage hospital was not doing a thing about this..Literaly, she through up blood-when I told the nurse-NO LIE, she asked Christina "do you want some tylenol" ..WTH? Yea..When I had got there that day her mom was trying to get her transfered...but the dr there wouldnt do it. So I just happen to have dr. "lifesaving" Simpson's pager number with me-and we got him to call in there and get her transferred to Marshall...So, after that she was rushed by ambulance there...they got her right in..and just in the brief ride over to Marshall, she got A LOT worse. When the drs come in to get all the history on what was going on they were pressing on her stomache ..and she was screaming bloody murder BEGGING them to stop.. it was horrible. SO, they did xrays and a CT scan...they saw she had a pocket of air above her lapband... and so they put a tube down her nose to get rid of some of the air. Later that night (sat) about I guess midnight they came in and said the CT came back and she has a Hole in her stomache. They had to rush her to Emergency surgery at 1am. They learned that she had sepsis...and they removed 1/2 of her stomache becasue it was dead. There are a lot more details to this...They said the big thing was going to be to see if she could swallow liquids etc. B/c of the intensity of the surgery she has a very small opening for anything to go through and they said if she cannot hold anything down they are sending her to dallas to have her stomache basically rebuilt. So, today they said she had two bites of jello and did ok with that, then had a little applejuice and she was in a lot of pain from that it hurt her really bad...they arent to sure yet why..
She went straight to ICU on the vent...They took the vent off on Monday.. As of now she is doing fairly ok i guess. She is just having one thing after another go wrong..she isnt the average bear I dont guess...
If she would have stayed in carthage through the night that night and we didnt get her to Marshall, she so wouldn't have made it ! Dr. Kilpatrick and Dr. Simpson saved her life---AWESOME dr.'s. Say what you want about Marshall Hospital-but Dr Simpson I know 1st hand is the best there is... He saved my dad a few times. great man.
Currently she has a lot of fluid on her lung and they said today that one is partialy collapsed. her fever is coming and going... and she is trying to get out of bed some and move around. They have already went in once and drained the lung and are considering to do it again...if they cant keep if off they are gonna put a chest tube in...can we say OUCH! yea, she wasnt to thrilled at the sound of that! I wouldnt be... They are keeping her medicated pretty good..she had a really bad night last night though-not due to pain, but 2x the amount of sleeping med-and she haulucenated (however u spell that) real bad.....Im sure Paul had a not so good time with her last night..
She still is not out of the woods by far! She will have a long road to recovery..this is all a result of her lapband though. Anytime you have a foreign object in your body-and you get sick your suppose to get on antibiotics-well over time her getting sick here and there---the infections have just attacked that lapband..the lapband had also shifted due to throwing up from her this past pregnancy with Zivi and last week with that stomache bug-it just kinda sent it over the top....
Please continue to pray for her! She has a very long road to recovery and needs all our prayers! She has a 6 week old baby girl and a two year old little -so her and Paul have there hands VERY full! She hadnt even fully recoverd from having a c-section and now has this to deal with....
I know she appreciates all of your prayers!!!
