I fully support Hazelton, and the Illegal Imigration Relif Act (IIRA). This is a problem that has been pushing our country into more debt, and making more Americans home and jobless. Who do you think did all these so called "jobs americans wont do" before all the illegals started taking them over? I'll tell you who, our grandfathers/grandmothers. My Grandparents picked apples in Oregon, where my father was born. Everyone here who is not Native American (Indian), imigrated here at some point in time. But they did it legally, became citizens, learned the language, and loved the country enough to fight for it, and for our rights.

A male member of my fathers side has fought in almost every major war the United States has had.
    1. The Revolutionary War
    2. The Civil War (Both sides)
    3. World War I
    4. World War II
    5. Vietnam

So i have a huge problem with people who come here illegally, use our free services, pay almost no taxes, and do not wish to learn our language, or culture. They wave the flags of their home country, while asking us to ignore their lawlessness.

A wall like the one in Germany, that seperated Germany into east and west would work for us, as long as we have gaurds who shoot anyone that approches the wal on the Mexico side. You shoot a few dozen people, and they will get the idea, you are not allowed near here. Entry points would be gaurded also, with guns ready to shoot anyone who tries to drive through without stopping for inspection. The recent case of the TB infected man entering the country is a prime example of why we need closed borders.

The US Military currently allows anyone from any country to enlist, and if you go active and are in a war, you get Citizenship upon your Honorable discharge. I honestly think this is a good idea, but background checks should be done on anyone not a Citizen who wants to enlist. Beleive it or not, we have trained countless IRA, al qaeda, and many other terrorist groups.

I'll add more to this later, i have alot to say on this subject. And hopefully even my Mexican American Friends will agree with me, if not understand.

I find your blog interesting! I agree that we need to have a better system in place where migration is concerned; but this is not anything new, just a different nationality of people. I can remember when I was a kid, those entering our country as migrants where Jamacians. But I don't recall them taking up residency. They came long enough to pick the fruit in the orchards and then they went back home. Now a days you can't make it through the down-town streets of where I live without seeing droves of Mexicans "hanging" out on the street corners. We've seen our stores held up and our residents being stabbed. It's when things like this start happening that I'd like to say "send them all back where they came from". But the sad reality is, the generation that is growing up in our country today is not like the generations of the past - like when your grand-parents and parents picked fruit just to try and make enough money to make ends come a little closer together. For that fact, I remember one summer picking apples with my mother. If you told a kid today (13-17yrs old) that they would have to work in the orchards or on a farm for the summer, they'd laugh in your face; and if they realized that you were being serious with them, they'd probably tell you where you could go. Plain and simple, the migrants are here because our own people are either too lazy or too good to do this type of work; and if it's not either of those two reasons, it's because they want to make top dollar without really having to work for it. I realize that times have changed and that the cost of living is higher, but that doesn't change the fact that our country's work-ethics have changed as well. And when it's not for our people not wanting to do the work that the migrants are doing, it's that the businesses use them so they can hire cheep labor, keeping more for themselves, lining their own pockets. So no matter how you look at it until our people have a change in their work ethics, and our businesses stop trying to "get rich quick", the illegal immigrants are going to keep flooding our boarders. BUT I do agree 100% with you - if they want to live in this great country then they should be more than willing to become a citizen, pay taxes like the rest of us, and be willing to die for their right to our freedom.

Joel, I see we will have some differences on this subject. As I do Agree that a mass flow of immigration to our country would cause a lot of damage to our economical fabric, However let us not forget the contributions they make as well. It is true that a lot of them do not file taxes because they work here illegaly, So what happens to the taxed money? Or how about the Social Security that is still deducted from their checks that they will never collect or see? Think about this next time you go to Mcdonalds or any other place were a lot of these illegals work and mutiply that times what i just mentioned above and the $ totals will blow your mind. Now i will agree that there a lot of illegal people here that do take advantage of our system but who can actually collect a census on those who dont to see and weigh the actual facts? I think we have all been fooled by our Government if you look at history any time there is a recession its becuase we are at war and because bad decisions are made in government. Of course some one is to be blame so why not scape goat the people with the least representation the illegal immigrants. Don't beleive everything you hear on the news or media I am fortunate to speak three languages and have lived in three different countries 1 of which was in Europe. As for the previous comment made from Mrs. above Im sorry she has seen a lot of "Mexicans", In her neighboorhood but please please get your nationality correct! A lot of those people in your region are of central american decent. Now I know you might be thinking what's the difference? Well lets just say you would not want me to confuse you with a French person just because you have Anglo features or would you? Instead of creating more borders why dont we concentrate on returning jobs back to this country with stronger reform on big corporations and getting rid of some of these unions that have caused these big companies to go over seas. Lets stop being a country of consumers and start being a country of inventors and Entrepenuers! This was orginal base of our country and this is what made the U.S. the great nation that it is. Oh and as for the waving of foreign flags, Hell yes lets get rid of all of them! Lets start with "Old Dixie" since the civil war has been over for more than a 100 years! I know this is a lot of information but this is just the opinion of a tired irritated U.S. Marine and proud American citizen who has served his country and has lost friends and family members to a senseless greed filled government! I would also like to add that my parents did indeed come here illegaly and never once collected welfare, Just as some of the irish and some of the chinese and all the way back to the Mayflower we all came with the same hunger and need to progress and create a better nation! Joel I am proud to see that you have now become a strong leader of your community and I know that you will use the best judgement when leading your community. Just never forget where you came from and who is around you and do not ever make a choice or judgement with out hearing all the facts first. Although we have a difference of opinion you will still remain to be my friend and I am here for anything you may need, This is what makes this country great we can have our differences but still live in peace. Finally remember all these illegal people that are here have a lot more in common with all of us than you think.

I approved your post to show that i can handle opinions that differ from my own. If the federal government refuses to do it's job, then states and Cities must do theirs. What angers me is when people always assume that we are talking about Mexicans. There are plenty of other cultures that have illegally infiltrated the US. One of the things congress is considering to combat the problem of illegal immigration is a removal of citizenship to everyone born here. They want to require that at least one parent be a citizen before you can claim citizenship.
