The New York City-based education services company selected the school as one of the institutions it recommends in its "Best in the Midwest" section on its website feature 2009 Best Colleges: Region by Region. UM-Flint has received this recognition for eight straight years.
The University of Michigan-Flint was selected to receive the prestigious 2009 Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) Education and Government Entities Award. The award was presented at the 26th Annual MMBDC Awards Dinner on September 29 in Detroit. Other finalists in the category were Wayne State University and Michigan State University.
