Russo's New York Pizzeria, a coal-fired Italian kitchen, has opened in Richardson. It's the chain's first restaurant in North Texas, with most of its 25 venues located in and around Houston.
The chain is owned by Anthony Russo. He's following in the footsteps of his grandparents, who immigrated to New York from Southern Italy and Sicily in 1962 and opened
Russo's
Italian Restaurant after moving to Texas in 1978.
Russo says his offerings incorporate old family recipes, featuring natural ingredients and regional influences. Recently named best pizza in Houston by
Houston Press, the eatery's menu includes homemade gnocchi, prosciutto di Parma and cooked-to-order pastas.
The Richardson location of Russo's New York Pizzeria is in the 700 block of East Campbell Road.
