Thanks to everyone who came out to the August 4^th meet-up! We ended up getting into a lot more than I expected to, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

However there's a few events that we need to get coordinated - so please respond to me here, via e-mail, or the blog comment section.

The Creation Musuem Project

For those of you who don't know already we have been planning on doing a through 'debunking' of the Creation Museum in Petersburg Kentucky (it's right outside of Cincinattii). This will still be happening but much of the project is still pending so I will post more about it when we're ready for help.

Activism

While we dicussed several topics (such as abortion, healthcare, stemcell research, gay rights, hate crime bill, etc etc) there's only one easy thing at the moment we need to immediately take action on.

Strip Club Regulations

In a nutshell they're trying to regulate when and how stripclubs can be run. They, along with adult bookstores, will close at midnight in order to 'prevent prostitution and drug use.'

A few things you need to keep in mind when signing/getting people to sign this petition... and please be sure to read all of the requirements at the bottom of this page. If any one of those rules are not met the signatures are useless! If you have any other questions please ask away!

The 'Out' Campaign

Clicky for further information! We discussed perhaps going out as a group sometime next month doing this. Perhaps we could go to Gallery Hop? Not that we would 'need' the scarlet letter 'A' that is discussed, but we could wear our RRS shirts or other atheist-related gear. Any other comments, places, or ideas would be great!

Keep Columbus Beautiful

We briefly discussed doing clean-up work around the city through Keep Columbus Beautiful. We would only have to do it a minimum of three times a year. Plus, we would get a bit of regcognition for the clean-up work.

Guts & Glory Walk/Run

We discussed this a bit. It occurs on September 9^th at Bicentennial Park. We can register as a group, and the price for each individual entering will be $20.

Contest!

We need someone to design a couple of things.

First an RRS badge for Ohio. You can view a couple of examples of badges here, here (this one is the most commonly used), or here (Michigan's).

Secondly we need a t-shirt design. Something that we can specifically wear at walks, runs, or any other event we deem worthy. :) Preferibly something that says 'Atheist Volunteers' or 'Ohio Atheist Volunteers'. Maybe with our new badge logo on the sleeve, or whereever it can be incorporated.

The winner (or winners) will recieve a free t-shirt (once we get them printed). Or if you can't wait for that, we may give away some gear from RRS's Cafepress Site or a copy of The God that Wasn't There.
