Playa de Somo, Spain 28 JULY:
Presented by Electric, Globe, FCS and Santa Cruz, the Moskito Tour landed on the Playa de Somo beach, near Santander – Spain, for the first time… And certainly not the last! Hosted by the Special Surf School and Escuela Cantabra de Surf, last Saturday 28th july. The event was a great success.
With just under 50 groms entering this event and great conditions this leg was amazing.
One Day contest in perfect conditions!!
In excellent 1ft/2ft surf, the contest began at 9:00am. As the waves were perfect, and the competitors motivated, we decided to have 20min heats instead of the usual 15min! The young kids showed us a great level of surfing with really powerful maneuvers and solid performances!
The Moskito Tour is first and foremost a contest for kids- therefore fun is essential!
That is why Electric organized a Volt Tattoo contest whilst kids waited their turn! The winner achieved a grande total of 86 tattoos on his body!! A real battery this young!
And to give them a little rest before the finals, the organizers supplied the competitors and staff with Miko ice-creams and Sour Drops sweets.
At 04:00, for the finals the groms were ready to bring the contest to a high level. All finalists demonstrated a really good level in surfing! We are sure to hear some of their names more often!

Playa de Somo, 28 Juillet:
Présenté par Electric, Globe, FCS and Santa Cruz, le Moskito Tour s'arrêta sur la plage de Somo, près de Santander – Espagne, pour la première fois… Et certainement pas la dernière! Organisé avec la Special Surf School et l'Escuela Cantabra de Surf, ce samedi 28 juillet, cet événement fut un grand succès.
Avec un peu moins de 50 enfants inscrits et de très bonnes conditions de surf, cette étape fut épatante.
Un jour de compétition dans de parfaites conditions!!
Avec des vagues d'environ 80cm, la compétition débuta à 9h, Comme les vagues étaient avec nous et nos compétiteurs motivés, nous avons décidé de passer nos séries à 20min au lieu des 15 habituels. Les jeunes compétiteurs nous ont alors montré leurs capacités avec de très belles man..uvres.
Comme le Moskito Tour est avant tout une compétition pour les enfants, l'amusement, le divertissement… sont essentiels!
C'est pourquoi Electric organisa une compétition parallèle: « Volt Tattoo Contest ». En attendant leurs séries, les jeunes moustiques venaient se procurer des tatouages en forme d'éclair! Celui qui arrivait à s'en coller le plus gagnait! Le gagnant cumula 86 tattoos sur tout le corps!!!
Et pour redonner un peu d'énergie et leur permettre de se reposer avant les finales, les compétiteurs ont également pu déguster des bonbons Sour Drops et des glaces fournies gentiment par Miko!
À 16h, pour les finales, les compétiteurs étaient donc prêts pour amener la compétition au niveau supérieur. Tous les finalistes se sont démarqués avec très bon niveau de surf ! Nous sommes sûrs que nous entendrons parler d'eux dans les années à venir…
Nous souhaitons remercier tous les bénévoles du surf club qui sont venus nous aider et nous permettre de réaliser une si bonne étape!! Merci
