In October of 2008, Teddy Tendertouch and I transformed our weekly Tuesday night dj gig at Café AperO (Leuven) to a monthly Friday night party called Soulorama. This allows us to play longer, to play for a different crowd, and off course to invite guests.
We’ve had some great dj’s joining us in the last months: Mailman (Bugalu Soundsystem), Mr. Critical (Soul Society), Kwak (Strictly Niceness) and Funky Bompa (Radio Campus): four dj’s with a different style but a great and broad taste for music ranging from jazz, latin and afro beat over funk, soul, hip hop and disco with an odd psych/obscure soundtrack/library record thrown in the mix here and there. Just the way we like it.
So you can probably guess how glad I was when the Laid Back team suggested to throw a “Laid Back meets Soulorama” party at the end of this month. Because basically, LDBK Radio broadcasts the aforementioned musical cocktail all day every day.
Consider it a way to celebrate the first anniversary of LDBK Radio or the first season of Soulorama, to celebrate the end of your exams, the beginning of summer or whatever else you want to celebrate. Anyway, you don’t have a reason not to join us. It’s gonna be all about sipping cocktails and enjoying a wide selection of the greatest urban music of the last half century, brought to you by the Laid Back and Soulorama teams.
