Hot mic catches GOP strategists trashing Palin pick
Posted: 08:15 PM ET
From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
McCain greeted Palin Wednesday.
(CNN) – Prominent Republican analysts Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy became the latest victims of an open microphone Wednesday, caught after a segment on MSNBC trashing John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.
Noonan, a Wall Street Journal columnist and former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan, and Murphy, a campaign strategist and onetime aide to John McCain, can both be heard expressing disbelief with the pick of Palin after they apparently thought they were in a commercial break.
“I come out of the blue swing-state governor world, Engler, Whitman, Thompson, Mitt Romney,” Murphy said during the mishap which has since been posted on YouTube. Murphy later flatly says of the pick, "It's not going to work."
Noonan is heard going even further, saying of the presidential race, "It's over."
"I think they went for this — excuse me– political bulls–t about narratives," Noonan also said. "Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it."
Murphy, who was a senior adviser to John McCain's 2000 presidential bid, also adds, "You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical."

WOW!!!! Gov Palin is an amazing speaker!!! So much heart and feeling goes into every word she says!!! She is likeable and you can hear her conviction in her voice that gives me a since of security for having her in the position of the Vice President!!!!!! I have wanted her to be picked but had not got my hopes up due to all the media coverage of Pawlenty and Romney as probable to be selected as the VP!! Senator McCain and Gov Palin...you have just secured the Presidency and the Vice Presidency of the United States of America for yourselves!!! I am very proud!!!
Great Job and Great Choice!!!

I am stunned. And in a good way. I had read several interviews with Palin some time back and loved what she stands for, what she believes in, and who she is.
Now, Senator McCain, America truly has a choice of the Republican ticket where two people of
excellent moral character are wanting to show true Reform in America......versus the basket of
deception and double-speak that Nobama is trying to swindle this country with.

This is exactly what the country needs. I never heard of this woman before today but after doing some researh, this VP pick is a homerun in my book. This choice has definitely energized me as I'm sure it will others. Independents and Hillary voters should like this pick. The GOP needs a wakeup call as much as the Democrats (remember they control Congress and their approval rating is the lowest in history at 9% which the mainstream media somehow fails to mention despite slamming the President's ratings all the time). The GOP needs more pragmatism instead of the neoconservatives that have been running this administration on ideology alone. I'm pretty sure Ronald Reagan was far more pragmatic than he gets credit for in the media. After all, he had to turn the economy around (I remember double digit inflation and gas lines of the late 70's) with a Democratic congress to work with. Thanks for your service, Sen McCain, from a Navy vet myself who just returned from a year overseas doing my small part to make a difference.

I'm so excited about this (i was hoping for either Lieberman or Sarah Palin - thinking that Palin was an unlikely choice), i was most likely going to vote for Mccain, now there's no question. Sarah is a great addition to the ticket, ethics, a real changer, an athlete, she's got so much going for her and can do so much for the party!!!!!!! Awesome choice, Maverick!!!!

So... As many of you might have heard by now, Senator John McCain surprised everyone announcing Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. I don't know about you but, for me, it was a tremendous shocker. Who the heck is Governor Palin? I thought it was supposed to be Romney or Pawlenty. Was she even on his short list? Well, I did a bit of research and I came to the conclusion that she is my kind of woman. Yes, Palin was on McCain's list as a candidate for VP; she was at the bottom of the list, though (just to keep her somewhat hidden from the media).
Palin is, in my opinion, capable to fulfill the duties as vice president of the United States. Other than the fact that she's a good looking fourty-four year old, Miss Alaska runner up and she has been all over Vogue, she's also well experienced in the political field. She majored in journalism and minored in political science at the University of Idaho. She, then, moved on to be a sports reporter in Anchorage where she was also a commercial fisherwoman alongside her husband, Todd Palin. Finally, her political career began. Palin started out as City Council in the town of Wasilla, Alaska in 1992. She later advanced to become the governor of Alaska showing her influential capabilities as a very conservative political leader. In high school, Palin was head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes making it obvious that her ethicality is religiously inclined. She is pro-life and is against same sex marriages. She is in favor of drilling on Alaskan territory (her husband is actually employed by the oil industry) contradicting McCain's disapproval of it. I would be here all night listing her conservative views, so I'll move on to say that she is also a superb speaker as well as having a strong and confident personality. I am very interested in seeing what the badass Joe Biden has to say about her. For the sake of the very "experienced" democratic presidential nominee, let's hope Biden doesn't say anything too offensive. Not!
I must say - I look up to this lady and hope that she, one day, becomes our first female commader-in-chief. She is the right woman for this country, unlike the extreme left-wing, crooked, democrat that is the wife of the modern-day "greatest" president in history (the one who was cheated on).
