So, when my daughter Io (pronounced eye-OH; as in the Greek goddess or one of the 4 Gallilean moons of Jupiter… yeah, yeah, I know…what’s wrong w/ the name Mary, Joan, or Suzi? Nothing! Talk to her mom... at least it’s not Breaana or Brittany, right?) Anyway, when Io at 5 yrs. old came up to me and said, “Dad, I think I made up a song…” and proceeded to sing in its entirety what I soon learned was called “Time Passes” I was slightly stunned and very impressed (as any garage rock loving daughter adoring dad would be.) Io had had the unique opportunity at 10 months old to watch (w/ earplugs) The Monks live at CS! from atop my shoulders and has told me that, "The Ramones could kick The Jonas Bros. butt in a fight, probably". So I guess, nothing’s impossible. I knew it was time to head into the studio w/ her. And in classic rock n roll style it’s taken us only 3 years to finally record this 2:28 gem. There were no lyric sheets used, or an infinite amount of overdubs done, no drugs or alcohol consumed (just some apple juice and pizza), and she didn’t throw any “artistic” tantrums in the studio nearly as big as the “adult bands” (as she calls them) do.

Here’s “Time Passes” written and sung by Io Dunnaha Weiss (8yrs old.) Mike Fornatale (whose age we won’t discuss) played ALL instruments including thunder, engineered, and produced it. Keep an eye out for Io's follow up, I’m The Boss Of You!”, coming soon…

AWESOME!! You have to be beaming. We have shining examples of what good can happen when a child is raised amongst meritorious music! ........Avery wants to be in a band w/Io now. (She's a pretty fierce drummer, keeps the beat for Daddy and me. :) Avery and Dana have been working and recording off and on, "Happy Happy Weekend" a slight garage pop/garage punk amalgam about, what else, a Happy Happy Weekend, because that's when Dad's home two full days of course. This will be their inspiration to finally finish!

Thanks Alyssa. And the best part is I can tell her what to do. There are no contracts to sign, no guarantees to pay , or car services and hotels to book. For now... ........Good drummers are hard to find. Let's get Io and Avery in the same room asap and smell the magic!
