The Toyz – the new project!
Being asked to do another World Cup song was something I was kind of expecting and having had my answer well rehearsed, (being NO), I found myself saying OK!
Having been very lucky with my song, Forever England, for the last World cup – three TV appearances performing it, National Radio, local BBC radio stations and lots of news articles, I genuinely didn’t feel I needed to do it again.
So why have I said yes?
I suppose my defence is that I am coming at it from a completely different angle. Last time I wrote an “England Song” this time it’s a World Cup Song.......let me explain....
A toy company is launching a new TV Advertised table top football game in January and to coincide with the World Cup, wanted to include a World Cup song, as a free gift. The song could not mention England, as they want the game to be sold all over the UK.
10,000 are being given away with the game and another 4,000/5,000 will be given away the UK’s largest Toy Fair in January and also at various other trade shows and trade functions. Also the song is going to be put on a record label and sold on Itunes, Amazon etc with all the monies going to a children’s charity........so how could I refuse.
So as not to be “me again”, I created a fictions band called THE TOYZ – although, they are real people playing, The Toyz are not a real band. As the deadline of a January launch was given, the song, BE THE BEST, has already been recorded (Weds 28th Oct) and is now on it’s way to China for pressing. The actual song on Itunes, will have an official lauch date a little later.
Will I promote it to the radio and TV again?.......well, what can I say...never say never
