CALL TO ARTISTS- Great opportunity to get your creations out there at a super low affordable price to set up!The Plaza District host Live on the Plaza every second Friday and the Outdoor Indie Craft and Art Market will be a part of it from March 2009-October 2009. Loads of folks come out and each 2nd Friday has different live performers and events as part of it.Be sure to add the Plaza District as your myspace friend to keep up with who will be performer at each business for each month.
If  you are wanting to be a part of the Live on the Plaza's outdoor indie craft and art market, you need to send a photo sample or two of your work to houseofcraftok@gmail.com or kristen@plazadistrict.org no later than the Monday before each second Friday of the month to be considered. The decision of who gets to set up for each walk is made by members of the Live on the Plaza commitee. The main criteria they are looking for is that it
1. All designs and creations must be made by you (no buying someone else's stuff to resell or claiming it as your own and especially NO market stuff)
2.They are looking to promote emerging artists who are keeping up with the trends(or on the cutting edge of) modern indie craft and art  and/or creating something exciting/unique as this is what attracts most folks to our events vs something like "Affair of the Heart" or the old overdone products folks can find at the Arts Festival
3.Uniqueness and variety- obviously we don't want to have 7 designers all making jewelry and no painters, or 4 knitters all making scarves, so therefore sometimes if we have already had too many of one style of work setting up we would want to reserve that sapce for something different so that patrons have a variety to look at and artists don't have to worry about too much competition for the same customer
The cost to set up is the low bargain of $5(all proceeds benefit the promotion of the Plaza District and its ability to provide this space for artists)All vendors/artists are responsible for their own set up and collecting of sales tax(if you don't have a tax number it is possible to get a one time event form(similar to hosting  a garage sale). It is up to you on taking a chance of not reporting sales tax-usually the tax commision isn't prone to visiting events as small as ours but in 2008 they did start cracking down on larger art and craft shows so...
We will be setting up in the central part of the block to the northwest side of the Lyric Theater in order to pull traffic from both sides of the event(businesses who participate start with the east side(Collective Thread) and run to Indiana on the west(Bad Granny's) and includes the south side of 16th.
