The Fiddle Chicks ‘Don’t Worry About Brucie’....
After two years of working on new ideas and creating more effects with their fiddles, The Chicks, Kim Emma and Dee, are proud to announce the ‘Don’t Worry About Brucie’ CD Launch Tour of Adelaide!....
“We met Brucie late at night in a notorious Festival jam session. Even though he was a headless sailor, we believed the words of his young companions (who had liberated him from the other life sized models in the art and craft tent) when they repeatedly announced “Don’t Worry about Brucie, mate. He’s good” as they introduced him to one and all!!! Our new CD is named after the tune that Emma was inspired to write in honour of their funny late night antics!”....
The award winning trio have this year been favourites at National Folk Festival (ACT), National Celtic Festival (Vic) where the CD was launched with great response, and Bundaleer Forest Festival (SA). Earlier this year they were presented with the 2008 APRA Emily Burrows Award, a $4000 music industry prize which they have put to good use in completing their third CD. And now is your chance to watch them create this unique new music live.....
.. The three local Chicks With a Fiddle (or CWAFs) are delighted to be supported by three local Blokes With a Guitar (or BWAGs!)...
Soursob Bob, "local folk hero", with his ironic take on Australian culture and politics. ‘Great Southern' Steve McKenzie was a regular on the Adelaide acoustic music scene in the nineties, first in The Bedridden and later as a solo artist, this being his second show since resurfacing. And Vorn Doolette is a young troubadour, with a voice richer than chocolate, luring you into his raw emotion and sometimes shocking wit.....
..Starting at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Thebarton on Sunday 26th , with Steve McKenzie, they then head to McLaren Vale on Saturday August 8th for a concert at the Singing Gallery with Vorn Doolette. The following Saturday, August 15th, they’re back in Thebarton at The Folk Centre on South Rd, where they will be joined by Soursob Bob...
“Congratulations on such an outstanding CD. Great choice of material, wonderful arrangements and superb playing. It's the complete package. One of the best releases I've heard over the last few years, and is now on permanent rotation on my CD player.” Dave O’Neil, Artistic Director, National Folk Festival....
