Canadian trombonist Darren Sigesmund tours his Strands project to Europe for the first time. The European tour features music from the CD Strands and the upcoming release Strands II in performances across Spain, Germany, the UK and Ireland.
 Strands is a contemporary blend of jazz, Latin and classical influences that Sigesmund has showcased in over 100 concerts and clinics across Canada, Australia and Asia since 2003. This leading Canadian ensemble has garnered national and international credentials through past performances in Japan Expo 2005, the Canadian Embassy Theatre in Tokyo, premiere clubs throughout Australia, South Korea’s Jarasum International Jazz Festival, Shanghai’s renowned club JZ, Hong Kong’s historic Loke Yew Hall, and the Toronto Downtown Jazz Festival. The band’s upcoming second CD Strands II features New York tenorman Tim Ries and vocalist Eliana Cuevas.

 

The band line-up features alto saxophonist Luis Gonzalez Denis, guitarist Reg Schwager, bassist Jim Vivian, and drummer Ethan Ardelli. This European tour is generously sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts.
