Why do people pretend to be ghetto?

I'm an African American. I live in a mid-income neighborhood, nice 3 story homes.. 2 car garages.. 4 bedrooms houses ect. I live in the suburbs (with a majority of white people) although it's a very diverse town but what i don't seem to understand is why most hispanics and african americans put on a whole "ghetto gangsta" act when they are from the suburbs? they're not fooling anyone...
I think they should be proud to live in a privelaged neighborhood.
The only reason "ghetto" people act ghetto is because they are ghetto.. they're not pretending to be.. does that make any sense?

Does this happen in anyone elses neighborhoods (Suburban neighborhoods)
And why do you think people do this?

Yes I completely understand waht you're saying. I moved to this area about a year ago and I hate it. I'ts full of Asian people. That's not why i hate it though, I'm Asian myself. But everyone tries to act all hard and stuff. It makes me really mad because this new area compared to the previous area i lived is much more high class. My previous home wasn't the ghetto or anything but it's no where compared to where I'm living now.

EXACTLY. Try seeing a bunch of Korean people act all ghetto. They are not fooling anyone..! Especially when the school I go to is supposedly on the Top 10 list of schools in the Bay Area.

I don't know why people act fake, from the way the dress to the way they talk.. and their dumb made up stories about how their life is tough when they live in a high class area. I'm not saying I know any more than they do, cause I don't. I've never lived in a ghetto or anything, but my previous home was alot poorer. Even they didn't try to act as hard. I heard about the city I'm living in from other people before i moved here, and i had high expectations. But I was wrong and all I see are wannabes.

I really don't know why some people are this way. It makes me mad. I just wanna throw them in a real ghetto and watch what happens then.

Burbie kids act that way because it's what they see and listen to, Hip hop and rap. Their friends do it, the cool kids do it so it must be the in thing to do. Plus it's the age old story of rebellion, if mom and dad hate it all the more reason to do it.

Also add this to that mix, the burbs are Boring! I live in one right now and I've never been so bored in my life.

I grew up in a neighborhood that went from nice to ghetto in about the span of 15 years. The lil wannabe's from the burbs would not last an hour in a real ghetto.

Just my thought on it.
