BILL MALLONEE's "KILLING FLOOR" (and other albums) GUITAR FOR SALE! The guitar that I used to make Vigilantes of Love "cult-classics," JUGULAR (our first album!), DRIVING THE NAILS , KILLING FLOOR , WELCOME TO STRUGGLEVILLE and BLISTER SOUL is up for sale. It was also used in the writing and recording of TO THE ROOF OF THE SKY and SUMMERSHINE. You might say "it's been around the block." And you wouldn't be wrong. It is unquestionably the most "historic" instrument of I own. But the parting with this is a simple matter of hard times.
History: The guitar, a 1990 dark cherry-red Takimine EF-325 SRC, was purchased in 1991. It was my first serious guitar. I fell in love with it's instant play-a-bility, it's rich warm tones, whether unplugged or amped and it's beautiful body shape. I've probably written close to 1,000 songs on it.
The guitar was the only acoustic guitar used throughout the making of Killing Floor. Killing Floor was recorded in January of 1992, in Athens, Ga. The record, produced by the late great Mark Heard, became VoL's "break-through" album nationally, being heralded by secular and Christian press alike with 5-star reviews and glowing accolades. Mark was very pleased with the guitar's tones and presence. We were (and I am still) very proud of the album. In addition, all of Jugular was recorded with it as were the acoustic parts of Welcome to Struggleville and Blister Soul. The guitar, an electro-acoustic, was also my main-stay "live" acoustic thoughout most of the 90's; It surfaced again in the writing of "To the Roof of the Sky" and "Summershine" and the subsequent tour. Later various songs from the solo project, "Hit and Run" were penned on this instrument.
I have written more hymns on this guitar than any I own. Offer, Double Cure, Earth Has No Sorrow, Losing It, Parting Shot, Judas Skin and tons others were all "brought to life," so to speak, on this very guitar.
When I was asked to play Double Cure at the Cornerstone Festival's 20 year anniversary (a huge honor), this was the guitar I used on main stage that day.

They say in hard times a carpenter might have to sell his hammer; One could wish for "happier endings" here; But given the economic severity of the last 4 years, "this time seems to be one of them."
peace, bill mallonee
