This week Compass Records released our new Matt Flinner Trio CD, "Music du Jour."  I couldn't be more thrilled with the results on this disc!  Ross Martin (guitar), Eric Thorin (bass) and I combed through the material that we had written on three "Music du Jour" tours---tours during which we each wrote a tune every day to perform on that night's show.  This was a somewhat stressful but extremely rewarding experience; we tried to push ourselves to not only write tunes each day, but to keep things varied and get enough rehearsal time in beforehand to pull it all off.  Anyway, after 20 shows we had over 60 tunes; we narrowed the list down to 12 to record in the studio.  I don't know how to best describe the music we chose, but I suppose this is best called "new acoustic" music.  Some bluegrass, some jazz (perhaps) and, of course, a little bit of circus music.  I hope you'll check it out.  You can get more info or order a copy here: www.compassrecords.com/matt-flinner
