Just got back from my monthly dinner date with buddy Don Mackrill. Every month Don and I get together and get caught up on everything guitar, amp, family, whatever. Don is the owner of Mack Music Systems and is also the creator of our AIRLINE 18W COMBO amp. This month, a single Guinness turned into a second, and my love of the EL84 rolled over into the 6V6. Not sure why, but I've been messing with my old 1962 GIBSON GA6 amp the past few weeks and I've dicovered it is now (at least for this month) my ALL-TIME-FAVORITE amp.

After discussing this with Don, it came to my attention that the cause of this was not so much the AMP, but the fact I was using P-90's through it recently, not the Humbuckers that I have initially tested the GA6. Big difference. There is something magical about P-90's through a low (<20W)  tube amp. The harmonics and controlable feedback I was getting from the GA6 was almost magical. I've been messing with our new AIRLINE Tuxedo through a variety of AMP's, and the combination of the P-90's and the hollow-body design is something that is completly unique in my collection - and damn, I've got one hell of a collection - check out the video demo from Wendell Ferguson, you'll get the idea. This one is through my 1967 FENDER Deluxe Reverb.

So, I'm now thinking the proper lineup is as follows:

P-90 > 6V6, Humbucker > EL84, Guinness > Red Wine.

Now that you're in the amp business, how about a version of the old Supro amps made in Chicago? I have a foot pedal of a Supro clone that I built myself, but a real clone of the amp would be super cool.

Take care, and Merry Christmas from Bakersfield, California (home of the original Mosrites),
