Happy New Year to all supporters, on the GFF MYSPACE
No Ragley Green Fair in 08
This year we are once again on the look out for an interesting green event. Unfortunately for all our friends in the ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Midlands, the promising Ragley Hall Green Fair has turned out to be a one year wonder. Unless they decide otherwise in 2009.
New Sewing Machine
Due to an unexpected bonus from Michael Eavis we are hoping to purchase a reasonably good industrial sewing machine for canvas repairs and site decoration making.
Which reminds us…
We are always interested to talk to greenfutures supporters with arts skills. As artistic representations of green issues always have maximum effect at festivals and look damm good too!
Stewarding Opportunities @ Green Futures Glastonbury Festival
We will be providing up to a dozen steward places again this year.
We are considering organising a comprehensive training session
at Kingston Environment Centre. This will cost a fair and reasonable fee and the benefits for attendees would include a recognised first aid certificate and fast track access into other events.
SATURDAY 26 April is the day. Email stewards@greenfuturesfestivals.org.uk for further information.
Kingston Green Fair also needs support
The severe weather last year really hammered the financial infrastructure of the event.
The Fair is however is not only going ahead but is the main event
in the three week "paint the town green festival" finishing June 5
(World Environment Day)
Kingston Green Fair is on Monday 26 May 2008.
See what you get when you google… Found this just now http://www.green-engage.co.uk/PaintingtheTownGreen.pdf
For the second year we are applying for funding for a lottery grant to support emerging green events. Working with Richard Miller we are developing a great concept where the skills and expertise GFF have accumulated over the years can be put directly into use. We will be supporting new green shows, festivals and events without costing them a fortune. SO COME ON LOTTERIES BOARD!
Green Futures FESTIVAL RADIO 24 hours a day
The big news this winter is the introduction of an online edutainment radio service. A 24 - hour stream mainly music but with inspiring tidbits of Green info. Thanks to Sean Creed from Radio Reverb for setting it up
And John Moore of Green Radio for his sturdy support .
Jean is to be company secretary of the Big Green Gathering We hope that once again Jean can add some oompah to this position.
Next Live show from Noon to 2pm GMT on Sat 12 January 02008
Also be planning short experimental live shows
The Diary
Please check GFF Website for updates. Any help with research about how green these events actually are would be appreciated as would any observation. We have some official green report forms so if you would like a free ticket to an event to do an investigation… just ask!
