Chapter 1
Never had he wished before today that he could just disappear, like a wind that could pass by unnoticed. He just kept staring at the old clock on the wall across the room, listening to the agonizing ticks as they slowly moved time forward against his will. It had only been a year since the only person he ever cherished was forced out of this life at the hands of the bastard Aizen.
Only one year since he felt he could just slip into darkness and never come back, and on this very day the worst possible thing that could happen was happening, the day he would get a new lieutenant. Many times he had tried to plead his case that he did not need a lieutenant, that the squad, that he was doing just fine. But everyone knew better, they knew the lonliness that ached at his heart, that the squad was barely just hanging on by a thin thread. It was decided and he had no other choice in the matter. Suddenly the bell chimmed nine, and he slowly stood up from the cluttered couch that served as his work, and his bed. It was going to happen, and there was no mistaking that. Quickly he shunpo'd past all the buildings to the main hall for the meeting.
By the time he got there, everyone had already arrived. Captain General Yamamoto stood at the very front, even after all this time he looked just like he always had. Staring down the line of captains he saw squad 2 captain Soi Fon, Squad 3 captain Izuru Kira, Squad 4 captain Isane Kotetsu, Squad 5 captain Hikaru Kyoraku, Squad 6 Captain Ichigo Kurosaki, Squad 7 captain Renji Abarai, Squad 8 captain Shunsui Kyoraku, Squad 9 captain Shuhei Hisagi, Squad 11 captain Yachiru Kusajishi, Squad 12 captain Ruach Kadoma, and squad 13 captain Juushiro Ukitake. All standing there in their own worlds, excited as to who the new lieutenants were for squad 8 and 13, and yes much to everyones surprise, shiro-kun, as yachiru likes to call him, finally accepted to get a lieutenant to replace Kaien. Sighing softly to get this over with he walked over into his position for the meeting to start.
All eyes turned to the captain general as he held his hand up for silence.
“Today as all you know, we are filling in the positions of squad 8 lieutenant, and squad 13 lieutenant. I have picked people appropriate people for these positions, and as the captains of the 13 gotei, you will show your respect and act in a disciplined manner. These people have proven themselves worthy of this position, and I will not hear any objections from anyone on this matter. Now I would like to call in the new squad 13 lieutenant Rayne Kumori.”
With that everyone averted their eyes to the door that was opening across from them. Out stepped a small girl no more than 5’4 with silvery blue hair tied in a ribbon and purple eyes. Instead of the shinigami’s outfit though, she wore blue, purple, and white fighting style outfit with unattached sleeves, and a katana attached to her left hip. She had a meek smile as she registered the people staring at her. Finally she took a few steps forward.
“Hello my name is Rayne Kumori and it’s a pleasure to meet you all.” A bright smile appeared on her face. Shiro-kun took a step forward to let her know that she was going to his squad.
“I am Juushiro Ukitake and I will be your captain” They greeted each other with a smile and he stepped back into place while she walked over to stand next to the captain general, still holding a bright smile on her face. But what everyone wanted to see was not her, the the person that would go to squad 10, he wanted to know most of all.
Mumbling continued to take place and once again the captain general raised his hand for silence.
“I will next like to introduce the lieutenant of squad 10”
Eyes once again averted to the door in a tense atmosphere as the door opened again. Out came another small girl, probably even smaller than the one before. She had pink hair tied up in a ribbon and lavender eyes . She too wore a fighting style outfit but slightly different than Rayne’s and it was a grayish white and black, and two katana’ almost as tall as her placed diagonally on her back. She took a step forward with a devilish smirk on her face”
“You can call me Narumi. Na-Ru-Mi. and I’m going to have fun getting to know you all.” With that she flipped her head not even bothering to greet her captain and headed to stand next to the captain general.
Toshiro was the 1st to speak after that.
“This is an outrage!!! How can you place someone like THAT”, he pointed to Narumi sticking her tongue out at him, “ in my squad!!”
“THAT IS ENOUGH!!!” the captain commanders booming voice echo’d the hall.
“I have made the decision, and there are no objections.”
At that Narumi started giggling at her supposed captain. She had seen pictures of him in the old days, back when he was as tall as her. Now he had grown much taller than that and looked more like an adult. Even so, it was funny that even though he looked like he matured, he still whined like a kid. This was going to be fun…..
