I’m not a real city girl. I wasn’t raised on the mean streets and I don’t have a tough-as-nails exterior. When the city’s really smoggy, my nose still runs and I still sneeze every two to three minutes. I am still amazed by the amount of people at the mission every night. And I still talk to strangers.

Denver is still a strange creature to me and I still get lost on its streets.

But, it is my current place of residency and has been extremely kind to me as of late. And I do like it here. Very much.

Sometimes, though, about every five to seven months or so, I have to go back to the place that made me. It’s not like I don’t love this city anymore, it just starts to drive me nuts and I have to make that drive to where the three rivers meet before I completely end up hating Denver and moving to Santa Cruz (which is currently the fantasy on repeat in my head). I don’t care what the weather’s like back home or if I have to drive through the endless flatness of Nebraska to get there. I just need to sit in Riverside Park and look at the riverboats. I need to hug my parents. I’m also hoping to organize my raging thoughts into some new songs for you all and for myself.

I leave in a week or so and I’m not checking my MySpace the entire time so if you NEED to get ahold of me, now’s the time. Otherwise, wish me luck and a weightless mind and I will catch you on the flip.
