Production of the new Pamela Means ACOUSTIC album has begun at Slaughterhouse Studios in Westhampton MA. We are just getting started and now welcome your involvement and support in the form of album pre-orders.
As the music industry evolves, the shadow of major label machinery begins to recede, and more and more independent artists emerge and thrive, due in particular to the supportive phenomenon of loyal listeners and concertgoers. That connection between the latter is readily accelerating the demise of the former. Blah, blah, blah. Here's the point.
Basically, we've got everything but the cold hard cash to make the new record a reality. And, this our quicker-than-NPR pitch for "production assistance" in the modern era.
Let's do the numbahs...
Although, it is not uncommon for an independent artist to spend well over $20,000 for one project, the last two Pamela Means cd's, Single Bullet Theory and Pamela Means Jazz Project, Vol. 1, -- both of which went on to win "Album of the Year" awards -- were each completed under $6000, collected almost entirely from YOU through album pre-orders. The current goal is to have a budget somewhere in between.
Project completion is possible only with another collective grass roots effort. Or one or two Sugar Mama's or Daddies. You can remain anonymous or have your name in lights. And by lights, I mean in print, in the Executive Producer column when the album credits roll. Plus, you'll receive autographed copies and miscellaneous swag.
It's old school, but I still like saying album because that's what I've always wanted to make. I didn't exactly grow up dreaming of downloads. However, we indie artists have always been adaptable. And, even if the end copy is only virtual, it still takes some dough to make the bread rise. Know what I'm sayin'. Now, here comes the crowd participation part.
