 Hello everyone! I am updated the blog/tour a couple days early. I am doing this mostly because as of today I am officially "Tapering." If you don't know what that means it is a period of time in your training plan that occurs before a race. It is usually reserved for your "A" races but some will do an abbreviated taper before races of lesser importance. During this time which varies depending upon race distance, the athlete typically reduces distance by 20% each week for, well in this case for 3 weeks, while maintaining the same level of intensity. This is also the time to take care of any lingering little injuries, twinges that have been bothering you during the training. (I get a massage in soon...WOOHOO!!)

Anyway with the reduction in distance I thought I'd give myself a couple extra days cushion on the back end of May. So without further ado here are my totals for the first 2 weeks of May:

Swim: 4.2 (I've been really bad about getting to the pool)

Bike: 351

Run: 32.5

Total: 387.7

Calories: 18951 (that equates to 5.4 lbs but I didn't actually lose any ;-))

You may notice on the map that I went out of my way to head up and see my mother in North Dakota and that was on purpose. A quick trip into my ol hometown is a great distraction on a long ride (even if it's only virtual)
