The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honored the top writer and publisher members of PRS for Music – the UK’s Performing Right Society – at a ceremony held at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Hosted by ASCAP Senior Vice President, International Roger Greenaway and Vice President, Membership Seán Devine, the gala dinner and awards presentation honored those writer and publisher members of PRS for Music whose repertory is licensed by ASCAP and was among its most performed works in the U.S. during 2008.

Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) was once again recognised by ASCAP and was one of 21 songs to win an award.  This is the 9th time that Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart have been recognised for Sweet Dreams.

You can find out more about awards that Annie has received over the years  in the awards room over on the official website www.annielennox.com.

Timeless classic, never goes away.

Good choice to replace "Invible hands" as single and name of the album for "Sweet Dreams" instead

although "Invisible Hands" is a masterpiece in itself. it worked even in remix and live and SHOULD have been featured a bit more prominently than just on those die-hard-releases!

Totally agree. I would have loved to see IH remastered in 2005, but...

I'm not surprised. Sweet Dreams plays at least once during the work day on local adult-contemporary station that plays in the background at my workplace. That's just in my little corner of the world.

Doesn't surprise me in the least.....I was just listening to it myself! I just love all the different versions you've done over the years.

Many kudos to you and Dave not just for Sweet Dreams, but for a singular body of work that means so much to so many of us.

I loved 'Sweet Dreems' from the moment i heard it... it came into conciousness just as another favourite group of mine had disbanded( ABBA) , once i'd fallen under it's spell it wasn't long before everyone i knew got to hear it and in turn came to appreciate Dave and Annie for their craftsmen ship at writing songs that are still being recognised for their quality 26 years after they first hit the airwaves....

This song has been remixed several million times by now!  It's nuts. Every DJ on the planet has fooled with it.  Naturally I (and I am sure anyone reading this!) prefer the original!  My friends from other countries ALL know the chorus (in English!) even if they don't understand what they are singning.
It's too cute.

Can maybe this convince an Annie and Dave reunion one more time for a new Album.  I love both of you as solo artist, but miss the Eurythmics magic when the two of you come together.  A creative friction!  And a nice little treat.

Love "Sweet Dreams" a classic good song.  I wish they would award some of your other well deserved work though, I feel  many other great songs have been overlooked.

Hi Kenneth!  This particular ASCAP recognition is not a discretionary merit award, but simply a recognition of those songs (licensed by ASCAP) that were the most-performed in a given year.  Isn't it amazing that, after 25 years, Sweet Dreams was still right up there in 2008?!  Phenomenal.

Indeed, if we were talking merit awards for Eurythmics songs, it'd be hard to even know where to start.

Hi Patricia, Thanks for the information about the award. Yes it is amazing after 25 years "Sweet Dreams " is still playing, known, and awarded!!  Now any ideas about how to get a Eurythmics  reunion going??..LOL   One can always dream.....that would be a "Sweet Dream" come true for sure.

Congratulations Annie and Dave.  I have found that Eurythmics are absolutely the best inspiration in the world to get me in the mood for housework and yesterday I had them on high resolution all day as I got stuck in.  They're also great for getting in the mood to clean windows!
Of course Sweet Dreams was in the mix 2 or 3 times
