"Scottish
shredders Bleed From Within were a revelation at Download last month
and their debut album sees them showcasing their shredtastic metal.
Long has Britain needed an answer to The Black Dahlia Murder and Bleed
From Within could be that band as their Rising Records debut album,
Humanity, is as fine a slice of shred-metal as you could want.
Relentless from the off, Humanity, takes you on a dark, twisted ride as
the band lurch and race through their brand of thrashy modern death
metal. Now, while we all know that sounding like the Black Dahlia
Murder has been done a million times before and you only need to log on
to Myspace to find a million bands who all peddle this sort of metal,
Bleed From Within have a certain rawness about them that takes them
above those manufactured-for-Myspace bands who are doing this for all
the wrong reasons. The Glasgwegians tear through awesome thrashfests
like Messiah and A Killer Born with minimum fuss while vocalist Scott
Kennedy puts in a fine performance that stands him head and shoulders
above other underground metal vocalists in this area. The album
progresses nicely along through its course. It sounds great but, if
there is one criticism, it seems like the whole thing is over before
you’ve got settled.
Still, for thirty-odd minutes, you will be treated to as fine a slice
of British grit ‘n’ metal as Bleed From Within show that it is possible
to take on the US big boys without sounding like a tribute band. With
this album and a tent-slaying session at Download now under their
belts, Bleed From Within look set to make a decent name for themselves
in the underground metal scene. 7/10"
