last weekend @ Cleopatra's (Greenpoints' new art gallery) was quite the exploration in sound and image. Cary Loren (D.A.M. co-founder) provided samples and the  manipulation of old records with an occasional vocal outburst. I played The Zoo and MV Carbon (Metalux, Bride of No No) played electric cello. Amy said there were about fifty people hanging out on the sidewalk in front of the gallery (no room to sit in the gallery) viewing the projected image of the live performance on the gallery's window, and peeking in through the door to see what the hell was going on. Throughout the performance, which continued for an hour and a half, people would wander through the space with masks and costumes, enhancing the B-rated psychedelic happening. The "music" was rather tentative at first until Cary played a loop that continued for quite awhile "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU!!" That's when things seemed to come alive :)

Afterward, Cary mentioned that a small portion of the filmed performance will be used in conjunction with a larger film that relates to some vinyl he recently released. The event at Cleopatra's was shot on hi-end video thru a fish tank. The Atlantian image was beautifully vague with various, green, vegetative-like decorations hanging from the art gallery cieling against the fish swimming in the tank.

Much FUN!!
