Daughter Lara, so smart, so clever, combined her senior high school year with her freshman college year. As a straight A student she was able to do that (and she hasn't reached 18 quite yet, there are a couple of weeks to go).
Two nights ago I watched her receive two scholarship awards after her adventurous year. They were both for art (a student studying art, and a student pursuing a career in art) and they will keep her in paints, charcoals, pencils, smocks, berets and mustache wax (or maybe I've got an out of date idea of an artist?).
She's not technically the first Visconti to be awarded a scholarship. I'm certainly not one of them. My father was awarded one upon graduating from high school but America, at the time, was in a real recession called The Depression. At 18 he was the only breadwinner for his mother, sister and brother so he had to decline the offer. He took on all the jobs he could get, mainly he delivered telegrams for Western Union. But I digress.
I celebrate my daughter Lara. It's so good to get some real good news in these times, so I thought I might share it.
