Anybody ever been to or heard of the "Kazantip Festival"? If not, it's a massive month long rave held at Popovka beach on the Black Sea, southern Ukraine which, the official website claims, is "the most amazing techno, trance , house music event in the world".
Around 100,000 ravers flock to the area (known as the Kazantip Republic) from all over the world to experience the non-stop party, relax in the tropical-paradise like environment and spend time checking out the endless masses of topless eastern european women constantly milling around the area. Big names in world techno (including Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buren) play at huge outdoor dance arenas from dawn til dusk. Sounds like a good time right?

Well, unfortunatley there is very dark side to this seemingly perfect atmosphere which is something that has been stuck in my head ever since I watched a video on the vbs.tv website documenting the event. If you have watched this documentary (I will not repost here as it has some disturbing elements and it is certainly not work safe) you will know exactly what I am about to say. The "Sex Competitions". These supposed "competitions" take place in the open in front of crowds of hundreds of people and can be pedophillic and disturbing. The vbs video shows a six year old boy being made to perform oral sex on a twenty something year old female for the sake of winning a free t-shirt. Six years old! All while being cheered on by a crowd of 200+ adults. In the middle of the day. What sort of fucking sick weirdos are these people? If something like this happened in Scotland (where I live) there would be national outrage and it would end up with the vast majority of the "audience" being sent to jail and every single last one of them being put on the national sex offenders register. But the madness doesn't stop there. Although that is the arguably the most disturbing thing I have heard from Kazantip, there are recurring stories of people having sex with animals in front of large crowds and other sick shit like that. The place also appears to have a large mafia influence.

Anybody on here ever been to this event? I'd be intrigued to hear your stories...
