If you're interested in playing here in 2010 please email me (Jon) at: hark2towler@aol.com around January - just send your web address - that's all I need. Please don't ring us - can you believe I've had bands ringing for a gig at 9pm on a Saturday night?!!! What is that all about? So, we're a venue & it's Saturday (or Friday) ...what kind of mind thinks that'd be a good time for me to nip upstairs (while I'm doing the sound for the band) & check through our dates & organise a gig for them? It bloody beats me I'll tell ya.
If you really want to play here, please also take the time to suss what we're about - much like you'd do if you were going for a job interview. Read the Gig policy, read the "Barred songs" Blog, understand that we are not a cabaret pub or some kind of  'wedding' venue! We want good, original music or good, well presented tributes or good, well thought out covers. We don't want under rehearsed bands that sound great on myspace but can't quite carry it off when it comes to playing Live. This is our livelihood - we're not a rehearsal studio.
I'm going to be far pickier when it comes to our 2010 shows so don't be offended if you put a request in for a gig & I don't get back to you - it just means I don't think that particular act is suitable for our place & with the number of requests we get I obviously can't be replying in detail to everyone.
I hope you can sympathise with all this - it's really becoming quite a task. By the way, to save everyone a lot of time: we don't do... Dance, Rap/Hip Hop, Intense Metal with lots of gutteral growling, Cabaret. We do do: Rock, Metal, Folk, Soul, Reggae, Indie, Alternative, Punk, World, Pop, Blues, Jazz & anything else that's tasteful :)

MICK RUTHERFORD BAND

Ok, ok, ok. So 'tie a yellow ribbon' and 'The Birdy song' are out. But how about 'The Hokykoky' in B flat minor with added 13th.

Keep up the good work all of you there in Bury land. We need places like yours to survive.

Sorry mate - yes - PROG too! I tend to just lump it in with Rock. So, people, when he's ready, come & see Glenn at our place with his latest project! And Drama in December! And 3rd Room in October! And Tirian Flame next year! It's all go innit?
All we need now is a decent Reggae band & all will be well...ish.
See ya at weekend matey - must remember to kick someone out of our top pals & replace em with you :)

The Skyline [LOOKING FOR A BASSIST...}

Hey there, we are The Skyline from Rochdale. We would be very interested at playing your venue as we're trying to get as many gigs in as possible throughout the next year. We like to think our music can appeal to all appreciators of guitar-based rock music. We try to put a technical slant on listenable rock in order to offer something for people at either end of the rock spectrum. Hopefully you can take a minute to give us a listen, we'd really appreciate it. Please get back to us asap if you'd be interested in putting us on.

thanks a lot,

the skyline x
