If you are in the St. Cloud area next Thursday April 16th please come to my split bill with the great Danny Schmidt from Austin Texas at BoDiddley’s at 7:30 Danny has been recently signed to Red House records and is the subject of one of my songs “Troubadour” a few years ago Danny emailed me and asked if he could open for a Kelly Joe Phelps performance at BoDiddley’s. We had meet at the Kerrville Folk Festival that previous year and I knew he was a gifted songwriter. I told him that we could only pay him $50 and he could only play for 20 minutes..to my surprise he said he would take it. Danny then flew in from Austin rented a car and drove to St. Cloud to do the show with Kelly Jo, after his set Kelly Jo said “Danny that was wicked good” and it was…I was feeling sorry for him and embarrassed at the tiny stipend we paid him and told him to come by my gig at the Veranda later, I would share the stage with him and the money and also offered our couch for him to crash on that night which he gladly accepted. The next morning we woke up to find him gone with a nice thank you note on the table. The chorus goes “troubadour true believer may your dreams all come true” in Danny’s case his dreams are coming true. Being signed to Red House and having a new CD which has garnered international acclaim. He has been compared to Townes Van Zant, Leonard Cohen and other genius level lyricists. I will be playing the first set with many of the new songs from my upcoming CD “Broken Ground” details and directions at www.granitecityfolk.org

My advice is to bring along some extra cash and pick up at least one of Danny’s CD’s you can’t go wrong with any of them.
