Yo!!
Big up to the few and the proud who came through to see a great hiphop show in Ithaca.. All I gotta say is, "we try"...
Turnout was a little weak but what can I say.. Unfortunately most people still don't know about Vast Aire, or Copywrite, and they definitely don't know about thier openers..
But the people that were there got a real treat y'all, the acts all held down thier respective portions of the set..
But AS USUAL I have gripes about the way that the travelling artists acted at this one.. FUCK!!
Anyway, Me, Rising Sun, and E.Rich kicked off the night. It was short and sweet, and the people there gave us a warm reception. Fun shit. All I know is we don't know each other's music which is kinda funny and awkward, but, whatever. I still broke a profuse sweat and people gave us very humble props afterwards.. WORD UP!!!
Then an MC who I believe was called Circular Seven, rocked the stage.. I had never heard of him but he brought a small group of heads who looked just like him and they were showing him all sorts of love.. It was interesting. Dude had a very visceral flow, understandable as hell, very impressive of what I got to see. He looked amped the whole time. Pretty fucking good.
Now, earlier in the night I had an interesting conversation with KingDom, Copywrites "hypeman" in which he attempted to tell myself and a couple other friends who were partaking in a blunt how great the weed he smokes is, while at the same time telling us we were smoking some bullshit... I fucking HATE these conversations, especially when someone Is trying to act like they are the "weed authority"... If anybody knows Ithaca, we are a damn weed Mecca, basically idiotic self-righteous weed talk, from some random dude is just plain stupid.. Just because you smoke Kush, doesn't make you special around I-Town trust that..
So Copywrite and KingDom performed next. I had already made up my mind that KingDom was a douchebag, but I also realize that when you are on the road, you gotta act like you are the fucking man, so fuck it, he was just doing him, Im not a hater so I sat back and watched Copy and Dom RIP the first half of thier set. Both of these cats are DOPE as shit.. They are at the top the the game as far as battle braggadocio goes, I wouldn't want to test them.. But thier set ended up turning into a drunken "We are in some bumfuck town, with a dead crowd so who gives a fuck if we get drunk on stage and act like spoiled bitches" type shit... For the last 10 minutes KingDom just mumbled, complained about the crowd, slammed about a fifth of Henny, and ate a fucking Bannana on stage, which me and my Girlfriend thought was great in it's own special way, not for a concert though. They were great MC's but as far as human beings go, I can see why Copywrite spent a summer getting into fights with various underground rappers who shall remain nameless of course.
Vast Aire, came next.. What can I say. Clear voice and delivery, smiled, interacted with the crowd, rocked new and old shit. He saved the night in my eyes, I was extremely impressed with his set.
All in all it was definitely a good night. I just wish that dudes would play the humble more often...
