Just read about this over at the SFBC Blog, which was first reported at SF Scope and I have to say that I'm very saddened. Lloyd Alexander, and in particular his The Chronicles of Prydain series, helped lay the foundation towards my love of all things fantasy. So, I'm definitely going to miss Mr. Alexander and my sincerest condolences to his family & friends. On a positive note, I believe that Mr. Alexander led a long, rich and rewarding life, and that he leaves behind a legacy & influence that will not be forgotten…

Lloyd Alexander inspired me to get involved in fantasy fiction. As far as I'm concerned, he was a giant. <head bowed>

He was a huge influence on me as well. I bought the Puffin Armada editions in paperback at an English language bookstore on the main drag of Bangkok about 1973. I had been reading English boarding school stories and Agatha Christie and a little E. Nesbit, but those booked really marked a big turn toward high fantasy for me.

Wow! I didn't realize he passed away. Lloyd Alexander truly was an inspiration to me. He is one of the reasons I decided to write ParaWorld Zero.

I have a hand written note from him that I'll treasure.
