kiaora. i am going on tour sometime late july early august around some of my favourite old haunts in new zealand. don't be jealous, i have a competition for anyone who's even interested but you don't win anything just the chance to pay to come see me and then hear me sing..hahaha. anyhoo, the "competition" is if you have a cover song you've been dying to hear me sing then write me and request it. i will learn it and then sing it. great idea huh. actually i stole it from tori amos, she's a hoe. tell me what town you're from along with your request so i know where to play it. again, great idea i know. the only covers i won't do though are any by missy higgins or kd or melissa or boy george...ewww yuk.

ok bye x

ps. if i don't get any requests i will be a bit embarrassed and shamed out but then i will make up that people requested songs and i'll play whatever i want so fuck you.

pps. fuck you.

OK mate I will start you off - I would love to hear you sing Patience of Angels by Eddi Reader (Eddie reader - Eddie reader Album) at the gig nearest to Upper Hutt, Wellington.

I can not wait till the dates are released and tickets go on sale - count me in.

Well there you are at least one in the audience, 2 if I drag hubby along too!

Hope life in Oz is going ok - I am off for my firsy OZ experience to Perth sunday - somehow I get the idea the weather will be warm!

Definitely Ziggy by Celine Dion...which is the story of young Celine secretly longing for a (gay) rugby player...Best song ever. Too bad you do not speak French. The original (French) version is even better (worse).

http://youtube. com/watch?v=wVHcG-lb6ok

Oh
Ziggy, I call him Ziggy
I'm so hot for him
He's not at all like all the rest
But he's held out and he's the best
Even if I know
He would never go with me

Ziggy, they call him Ziggy
I'm so hot for him
And when I saw him that first day
I went and gave myself away
Oh so indiscreet
Oh but he was sweet to me

Four a.m.
he's here by my side
Talking, laughing and making friends
Making fun of me too
He can do whatever he wants
I don't mind, but he pretends
Not to see what I go through

Ziggy, my crazy Ziggy
I get weak for him
He lives a life that I can't share
I don't know why but I know where
Oh it breaks my heart
Knowing I'm not part of him

Why won't he try anything new?
I would be his very best
And his first, in many ways
Oh if I were one of his boys
Thin and languid and self-possessed
So in demand nowadays - oh

Ziggy, my crazy Ziggy
I get weak for him
He lives a life that I can't share
I don't know why but I know where
Oh it breaks my heart
Knowing I'm not part of him
Baby Ziggy

Hey lady, I hope you're coming to Tauranga. If you do could you please do a cover of "Intuition" by Feist, or "Lover's Spit"- it's by Broken Social Scene but she does an awesome cover of it.

If those aren't possible, I would be happy with anything by Peaches :-)

See you when you get to Tauranga,

Dear Anika Moa,

Me and my friend Matt would like it if you sing Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves or If I Can Turn Back Time by Cher. We'll be at some Auckland show and it will be AWESOME. Also, if you were to hump your stool while you were playing a song, that woul putt you Tori Amos.

Peace out.

Kiaora Anika

The Westies could do with an awesome gig. Be sure to wear that black t and pisswash jeans... Too much...?

However, you might like to sing

"Lover, You Should've Come Over" and/or "Everybody Here Wants You" - Jeff Buckley
"State of Emergency" - Bjork (I think that's the name of the song - BEOOOTIFUL tho)
"Even Angels Need Love Too" - Ben Harper
"Blind Woman" - don't chicken out this time - it WILL be amazing even if it's only you singing it...

Be good to have you back - Moas really are extinct in NZ now - it's just not the same...

"State of Emergency" - Bjork - (I think that's the name of the song - LOVE it)
"Lover, You Should've Come Over" or "Everybody Here Wants You" - Jeff Buckley - YUM!!!
"Blind Woman" - a pretty cool song by this NZ chick that never played it on her tour last time...
...Neato. Be good to have the Moa vibe back sister.

Thank you, love you

...I want to have your babies. Please? ...ah, fuck, I'm a girl too. This will never work.
TO THE SCIENCE MOBILE!

Seriously, though. COME TO INVERCARGILL. (It's so much fun here! We have...tuatara! And a water tower! And...oh, shit, I dunno. Um.
Boy racers from Gore? NO NO WAIT COME BACK! ;_;)

Now that I've proved beyond all doubt I'm a freak, I'm going to request OBSCURITY.
Here we go!

"Bukowski" -- Modest Mouse (BONUS POINTS FOR BANJO)
(http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=xr_B2IOUYSw)
"All Sparks" -- Editors (ACOUSTIC GUITARS MAKE ME HORNY)
(http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=RMjc-1xfcFo)
"My Number" -- Tegan and Sara (LESBIANS ARE MY FRIENDS)
(http://www. youtube. com/watch?v=7-UiLP-BIhY)

...any one of those is good. And if they all suck? CROWDED HOUSE NEVER GOES ASTRAY. GIVE ME "WHISPERS AND MOANS" 'CAUSE NEIL NEVER WILL.

...in other news, sometimes I still kick the wall because I didn't have any means of recording that beautiful rendition of "Good In My Head" you did with the Christchurch Symphony a few years back.
Woe!

...but I'll go away now. God, I hate mySpace. But at least this way I get to request odd songs from an odder musician! :D (...great, now you'll really never come to Invervegas.
Dammit!)

Hi Anika your music reaches as far as little ole Scotland. I saw you perform backing with Bic on the Birds tour in Glasgow. You shoould come to play here soon. I have two of you albums and plan of ordering In Swings The Tide as My Old Man is my favorite song right now I cant get it out my head. I wouldnt get to see you do your cover but its a great idea and would be nice if you dedicated the song to the person who was chose it. Bic and stellar* are obvious choices. Roll Into One, She Left On A Monday. Breather, For A While. You could also cover Anika Moa Ive heard she's pretty good.

Another female singer I like is Tasmin Archer I think one of her songs might be a good choice. From her album Great Expectations there is Sleeping Satellite and I think you could do a good job of her single In Your Care a dark song that I think was about child abuse and the chorus is "Son Of A Bitch You Broke My Heart I Need A Little Loving To Take Away The Pain.
How Could You Let Me Down When Im In Your Care"

My Favorite Tasmin song of that album is When It Comes Down To It. I know if you covered that song it would be perfect. If you havent heard the songs then there are some samples thanks Peter. http://www. amazon. co. uk/Great-Expectations-Tasmin-Archer/dp/B000002UQB/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1211458933&sr=8-1

Hey... I heard your version of 'Silver Springs' and now have it stuck in my head.
IT ROCKED!!!

There are soooo many songs that would sound wicked with your unique twist thrown in for added flavour, but one I would love to hear at your Masonic Tavern gig in Aucks is 'Silent All these Years', by Tori Amos.

Cheers xxx
