John 5:38-40
But you do not have His word abiding in you, because whom He sent, Him you do not believe. You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
This sounds so much like the church today. Seems most of the people know and read the bible but they have never come to know Jesus Christ. Knowing about Him and knowing Him are very different. It will also change your life. I am so troubled about people thinking they are saved because they have read the bible. But I know if they do not come to know Jesus they are not saved. It is all about knowing Him.
Matthew 7:23
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
