Current mood:  discontent
Category: News and Politics

First off, ignore my default.  It's an experiment in profile views.

Anyway, since 9/11 there has been a lot of talk about the freedoms we have been losing due to Bush and his buddies.  Well that may be, but that doesn't scare me.  Why?  Because we see it and it's obvious.  Or is it?

Well, I'm starting to get scared now.  No not because of anything Bush or congress are doing, or because of any judge's rulings.  If anything I am starting to see what they're doing as a misdirection from the really dangerous things going on that we can't see.

What really scares me is the essential media blackout of Ron Paul.  First of all, I will say that I'm supporting him during the primary season.  Not because I agree with everything he says.  I agree with a lot of it but am really supporting the idea of a candidate not in somebody's pocket, which ALL other candidates on both sides are.

How can someone that received 10% of the vote in Iowa, after a already long standing drought of media coverage, continue to be dismissed and ignored by the mainstream media?  My mom has never even heard of him, so I'm assuming that's the case for a lot of Boomers.  I constantly hear about Rudy "9/11" Giuliani and his favored status among those polled (because they've heard his fucking name forever).  Yet he was beat by Paul in the Wyoming and Iowa caucus and only edged Paul out by 1% in New Hampshire.

Now why does this scare me?  Because the more and more obvious mishandling and misdirection in the news about this year's election is an indicator of what is likely going on all the time.  We can only see it because it is such a big story and so many extra voices are out there to fill in the lacking information.  It's like a balloon, with just a tiny bit of air in it the skin is opaque, but the more you can blow it up, the more you see the light.  And the bad thing is, I can't figure out why they are doing this.  It doesn't appear to me to be a liberal or conservative slant in big media.

No, it seems to be the fundamental intention of the elite of all ilk to control what we think.  Not only that, it's what we do everyday that is more and more under control by nonpartisan forces.  You can no longer smoke or allow it in your business.  You can no longer discipline your children(God forbid) the way you see fit.  Don't say Merry Christmas, say Happy Holidays.  You can't own this or that particular breed of dog.  Oh, they are relaxing the drug and arcane sexual regulations (along with the institutional shift away from the idea of personal culpability)..  but only because the want us high, fucking, and stupid, and that will keep us quiet.

Once they do that, Bush's domestic spying will be unnecessary.

Maybe I'm just paranoid....

Paranoid? Pshaw. Just paying attention. I've become a bit of a truther myself...not in the 9/11 sense, but in the realization that the media is lying to us. The government is lying to us. The history books are lying to us...ever read any Chalmers Johnson? I'm reading "Nemesis" now, it's good stuff. Another good one is "Hostile Takeover" and I have a few more on my to-read list as well.

Why are they doing this? Because Ron Paul is trying to save the only thing that keeps this country from being a fascist (or socialist) dictatorship--the constitution. Seriously, it was written with all of these things in mind, and once you abuse part of it, it's easier to chip away at the rest. But you're right, the most frightening aspect of it is that even though we're smart enough to figure out what they're up to, the truth has been banished from public discourse. Eerie, ain't it?

It's totally surreal watching this entire election thing play out. I'm beginning to realize how much sway the media has over our so-called democratic processes.
