Who Gives Kudos:

August 10, 2008 - Sunday

Well... I thought...

I really try to not write politically charged songs because Im not one to go out of my way to offend individuals that I dont know

but

sometimes the whole British thing really irks me beyond words.

They seem to be able to conquer and divide any darn plot of land that suits them and no one says a  thing about it.

You know.. its just the Grace that God that we stopped them here in the US otherwise

we'd all be eatin fish and chips out of a bag as well.

So Here it is.. my first tune that expresses a bit of what I feel about

the British Occupation of Ireland and what they've done to my family and my people as a whole.

If its offensive.. I offer no apology.

Tell us why you're here

Siusan O'Rourke

8-7-08

You showed up on our doorstep

With your bags and brats in tow

Overstayed your welcome

By 400 years or more, you know

We asked you nice to leave us be

Paid with life to live it Free.

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here?

Chorus

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here

We've bled for it and died for it

We thought we've made it clear

Are you simply slow or stupid

Or is it just that you cant hear

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here?

You pushed up to our Table

And drove us from our Land

Re-cut the Pie to suit you

Hung the ones that dared to Stand

Connely, Pearse, and Sands to name

a few who rose to curse your claim.

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here.

Chorus

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here

We've bled for it and died for it

We thought we've made it clear

Are you simply slow or stupid

Or is it just that you cant hear

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here?

And don't you know the modern world

Ignores all that you do

They bite their tongues and turn their gaze

away from what is True

You've settled in and made it home

While we were starved and forced to roam

Since I've got you on the phone

Tell me why  you're here.

Chorus

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here

We've bled for it and died for it

We thought we've made it clear

Is it simply that your stupid

Or is it just that you cant hear

If you haven't an invitation

Tell me why are you still here?

And don't you know the modern world

Ignores all that you do

They bite their tongues and turn their gaze

away from what is True

You've settled in and made it home

While we were starved and forced to roam

but we wont rest until your gone.

Tell us why you're here

Siusan -
What you have written is the truth. The sad fact is that many people don't know their own history or where they came from. Oppression has many different faces and we need to understand that. Thank you for lighting a candle in the darkness.

Siusan and Zig,

I have not heard the song, but, I just read the lyrics. I'm 2nd gen Irish American. Grandparents are for Killarney and Cork. I do know the history, as told to me first hand. These words are all so true. Many of the Irish children don't even know what and / or why the strife is covering the country side. I go to Ireland at least every other year. Would love to move there one day.

My God Bless you both and continue the beautiful music.
