Who Gives Kudos:

Friday, April 20, 2007

Steve's mum Kay has kindly allowed the use of one of her private photos in the picture section showing a very happy Steve enjoying a hug from his mum.

Kay - "Steve was never happier than when he was playing the small clubs and pubs in the 80's. He once said to me-

"Mum, I'm my own man now. I play, I earn my money and actually get to keep it after I've paid the rest of the band...what more could I ask for?"

Steve was obviously happy to play to the people who adored & respected him without having to deal with record company execs.& breadheads. I remember those gigs with great affection as does Kay.

Kay would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the many fans who send cards & tributes at this time every year.

Many many thanks Kay for sharing this snapshot of Steve.

A beautiful quote from Kay.
I think it just about sums Steve up and thats why he is respected and is a true icon.
How many other Rock 'n' Rollers can say that they are that true to them selfs ??? Steve had punk wrote thru him like a stick of rock even if there was no such thing as 'Punk' .
He done ONLY what he wanted to do.NEVER sold out .Its just so sad he couldnt had done what he wanted for longer and it was cut way to short for him.
The geezer's a one off - EVERTHING a legend should be .
RIP Steve xx

Adored and Respected, so true. I still love the Small Faces after all these years and refer to HIM as little Stevie Marriot. I was so lucky to be around as a young teen to go to all their gigs in Lincolnshire. I wore my hair like him and dressed like him on my tom boy days! I just loved the band and their music. I was at the Humble Pie gig at a festival at Lincoln. Great Daze :) I often think about his Mum she looks a lovely lady, and of course I listen and look at Steve every day on my-space and Youtube. xxx

That's so cool!
I saw Steve three times within a year at JBs club in Dudley around 1989 and he was electric.  I so much regret not knocking on the dressing room door and having a word with him.  I used to be so confident and not shy with so many of the bands of my generation but Steve was a legend to me then.  He is still one of my top favourite artists and always will be.  I've always loved him since I was 14 and will always love him.
